I never PC programmed anything. I usually just listened to my local city PD. But if you do get one I suggest you do everything manually for a while so you're not dependent on a computer. The dynamic memory was great. The only thing I have to say about the 396T is that the reception is...nothing compared to a GRE unit. If you want a great Uniden receiver with reception I highly recommend the BR330T, trunks all types of Analog, a lot more sensitive, and has a wider range for searching.

cool stuff, does it give you problems going back and forth between uniden and gre? Or do you pc program everything? I think I'm going to pick up a 396T next time I'm in town, I've heard the dynamic memory makes all the difference, so you're not wasting all those memory channels.
