Youve got to be kidding me...i've commercially fished halibut in Alaska for years...there are more halibut now than ever! sometimes i can hardly believe the density of the fish we pull up...it seems like the ocean floor in certain areas is just a halibut carpet...it's bizarre. the stocks are healthy as ever and actually increasing. there are areas around kodiak island where you can space hooks 15ft apart and come up with a halibut on 80% of them...for 2 miles!!

i'm from nova scotia but living out west now on vancouvr island. our problem out here is with the pacific halibut commision. last year we were threatened by the americans to reduce the recreational limit from 3 halibut to two in possesion. they said that if we did not comply they were going to block ucluelet harbor to prevent us from taking charters. these guys takes thousands of pounds a day and they're complaining about the 3 chicken halis my guests take...its brutal

Yes seals eat cod but when every you get a chance go take a look at how big a dragger net is and take a look at the fish that they land most of them are under 19" and then look at what a long liner lands almost all of the fish are markets or bigger and what few small fish you get on the long line you can let go because they are still alive but almost every fish that comes aboard a dragger is dead it doesn't take a scientist to see where all the fish are going but they cant seem to figure it out

Not only do you have an inadequate slab underneath, but you also appear to have elements of styrofoam fill....which, once it gets to about 5-10 years old, decays & emits a gas which is attractive to termites. (Information i got directly from a termite contractor who is also a building inspector & has been in the game for 40 years). People....if you build a house....100% SOLID CONCRETE SLAB with adequate footing is the only way to go...make sure you're there when it's poured. Sorry for you man!

It will take a lot and depends on what your invesment was. My guess would be lift all the cottages and rip out that junk and start new or just fill all the crawl spaces with cement. Who was your on site forman. They should have checked as the construction was going on. Your last line of defence is your ouw 2 eyes should have been at every stage of the building process. You should also record all and every conversation with all government officials that you deal with. Get copies of everything related to the inspection and insurance of the companies involved. Should the jack posts be cemented in a footing? The beam should be pocketed. The jack post should be bolted to the beam. Should not use a temporary jack post. Buddy you need a good boston lawyer that deals with construction and real estate and you will get every dime back from the builder. hope he was insured... Was he the cheapest guy around?
