Trawling The Ocean Dead
Posted by: COHPSCANADA
Video duration: 446 seconds
Canada is trawling the ocean dead by dragging the ancient sea bottom relentlessly year round until the coral habitats, fish nurseries and underwater seamounts are gone. Trawling is one of the most destructive industrial activites that man has ever committed on the generous environment. Never eat fishsticks, scallops or anything trawled please.

ok people, it's not a Smoothhound. This Shark has no anal fin, like a dogfish. Smoothhounds are requiem Sharks and therefore have an anal fin.

Piked Dogfish, AKA Spiny Dogfish, AKA Spurdog, Squalus acanthus. Widely regarded as the most common Shark in the world. Marketed as Cod. Resented by fisherman because that's often all they catch. Dogfish will swim to the surface if they smell chum and even come out of the water to grab baited hooks being reeled in.

Widespread institutionalized corruption and the lack of good people getting involved in politics is killing Canada as a nation. Too bad the evil corruption and technology is killing everything in our seas:( Down with oil!!

It was a tiny ROV two gentlemen from Maine, USA, brought up here in 2000 to film the living ocean bottom before it was trawled to death. The camera had a tilt. Greatest bottom video ever in Canada and proves trawling is killing the oceans not seals :)

Its a Spurdog (also known as the Piked Dogfish), if you look closely you can see the spurs that stick out just in front of the dorsal fins. Savage feeders, have caught many 'half' whiting due to these on the west coast of Scotland.

1stly that is a smoothhound 2ndly dont kill them trt catching them on realy light tackle they make great sport ther called "pests" as there usuly outgunned by a oversized weight and a heavy class rod
By: Tool123Tim. on 20 Aug 07, 07:16:27
yes its a shame really. We pull them up all the time. They are still really cool to see for me that is =p even though they are a pest. Sharks are just amazing creatures but can be a majour hassel. Not as much as seals though
By: COHPSCANADA. on 03 Jul 07, 00:28:07
Common dogfish to us. We just kill them and throw them over the side in Canada:(
