this video is from the discovery channel yes? Why are they touting the Barrett as a new weapon? Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome gun, but has anyone seen robocop? Clarence got a new toy... state of the art bang bang. It's a Barrett. 1988 if I'm not kistaken, and if my millitary history serves me well, it wasn't new then.

Actualy some police forces use the .223 in sniper rifles because it minimalized Over penetration, and at the ranges they're shooting at a bigger round like the .308 just isn't needed.

Those weren't very suitable comparisons. The .223 and 7.62 are assault rifle rounds for the AR-15 and AK-47. They should have shown some other high powered, sniper rifle rounds. Who uses a sniper rifle that shoots a .223? No one. And not all sniper rifles before this were bolt action. And who seriously takes 15 to 20 seconds to rack the bolt on their rifle? If it takes you up to 20 seconds to pull back the bolt then I really hope you aren't using a rifle in any sort of tactical situation.

the reason for having such a large round is because they developed these rifles to be able to shoot through tank armor from thousands of yards away and still have enough momentum to kill the person inside. If there isn't an active tank around, you might as well use your clips. =)

I dont know where he is getting that the AK fires the .308 but there are dozens of countries that use it and maybe he's talking about the newer versions of the AK that Russia is producing, still that is weird that they would mess that up

Maybe it's just me, but 50cal is perfect for a slab of sidewalk concrete on end, or a grizzly - but overkill for a human. I wish there was some way to tell watching these clips how loud this monster truly is. I also wish they'd show one being shoulder-fired.
