Scallop is carving out your fretboard in between the frets, so when you play your finger doesn't touch the fretboard. Pros: According to some people, it helps with speed and sweeps It allows far superior bends since you can push down too It looks friggen amazing! Cons: Some people think it makes the action whacky (I disagree) It takes SHITLOADS of getting used to Some people don't like it, go to a sam ash or a guitar center and ask for the Yngwie strat

Theres many things you should have said to ensure people do it correctly, because if you cut the tape on the 12th fret above the 12th, thats fine, because you sanding it.. However, you were slicing into your 11th fret on the other side, which you werent scalloping .. However, good vid, very helpfull thanksyou :)
