I am playing Edna Turnblad in August and need some solutions for her voice (is it just me or do I seem a bit fruity in this video??)o well maybe I was in character?!?!

- open your throat and make it a bit higher with the baltimore accent.
- make a nasal passage with an over the top high pitch, baltimore accent.
- edna seems to me like she is a jewish woman from the Bronx, so maybe add a little bit of Mike Myer's character from coffee talk.
