I got the same kind of reaction from my mother who was a teenager in the early 1940s and could not even begin to grasp this when I cranked it up on the old Magnavox console we had down in the den of my old home place. It's funny that some people are commenting on the voice of the lead male singer (Fred Schneider) -- because it was TOTALLY part of the band's trademark sound that they would alternate between Fred's rather annoying nasal whine and the angelic harmonies of the two women, Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson.
