BigDog is a quadruped robot created in 2005 by Boston Dynamics.
BigDog is funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in the hopes that it will be able to serve as a robotic pack mule to accompany soldiers in terrain too rough for vehicles.

Wot teh fok.

Now ... my bet is that you could barely break that process down at all, sufficing to leave it as practically intractable concepts at about the conceptual level of "walk to the ball", "pick the ball up" and "request possession of the ball (using which language?).
By: oilotnoM. on 20 Nov 08, 19:59:41
Taking into account what might happen to the environment as you traverse it, how that might require alteration of your plan (before actually requiring the plan to be altered) and also the trivial task of maintaining your balance while executing your motions. Then there is the social aspect, suppose the pingpong ball is in the custody of someone else, how do you obtain the ping pong ball then?
By: oilotnoM. on 20 Nov 08, 19:53:10
I'll try and help you though: Describe how you think. Take a specific example, a very "simple" task such as picking a ping pong ball up. Now, you probably didn't actually have to consciously think about the exact taughtness you needed to achieve with each of the tens of muscles you needed to do that task, combined with analysing the dimensions, location, surface and bulk characteristics of said ping pong ball and out of the entire visual environment infront of you, plan how you will get it.

And that's _trivial_ compared to the task of actually having a system be able to form arbitrarily complex self motivated goals, such as deciding to try to find the fastest route, without having been specifically programmed to attempt such a decision (i.e. it must formulate its own decision criteria and act upon them in a meaningful way). You have no concept of how difficult it is to do something like that using current computer technology, you simply don't.

What an ignoramus, you speak as if robotic technology like that exists, or is a simple corollary to what already exists. Just "walking" any old place is trivial, building a robot whose sole task is to plan how it will pick up a coke can in a very simplified environment using only binocular visual processing techniques (i.e. no cheating using sonar/radar to assess depth of field) is orders of magnitude more difficult and is a forefront research topic.

renderrob, an enemy that I've never seen? Without going into details; I've seen the enemy, my ghost hunting conspiracy, friend. My endorsement goes to any means possible to kill the enemy where he lives and breeds. It's conspiracy weirdos like you that are enabling the so called "elites".

I mean the bohemian club in the bohemian grove. Search for Bohemian Grove and you see what I mean. The bohemians here in europe are good people, there is a biiig difference between the bohemian club. I am living directly near the czech border. Yes, they drink good czech beer, like pilsener urquell, staropramen, krusovice etc.
By: ribogok. on 20 Nov 08, 09:23:00
What's wrong with bohemians? They drink too much? And which is supposed to be one: Obama, Bush or McCain?

Lol shut your face, ppl always say that but it falls opposite of a demolition, claiming they know things based on comparing 2 videos, but its ok Not all people can be smart, keep trying.

I can see that having a nuke attached to it in the near future.

Perfect for stealth missions.

All I have to say is that I wish you have been. We need to wake up.

Look at video of the building 7 collapse and compare it to all the videos of failed building demolitions and I think you might start to realize that the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and Osama Bin Laden (the amazing unstoppable boogie man with endless resources who lives in caves) had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks. But you giving your shining endorsement of this tech for use against the enemy you've never seen, is great for the elites. =)

Probably not as easy as you think, but the US is already working that angle anyway. We are currently recruiting Mexicans, directly from Mexico, to serve in our armed forces. Still, foreign-born troops can never compare with robots that: *don't feel pain *don't sleep *don't eat *don't tire *don't question orders Not to mention being bigger and stronger than humans, or smaller and faster than humans, or capable of non-stop flight.

Imagine a battalion of these stalking the Afghan hills; loaded with a remotely controlled Land Warrior System, and Dragon Skin Armour, relentlessly hunting down the Taliban. Throw in thousands of "explosive Little Dogs" popping off the Big Dogs. Fear factor would be off the charts.
By: oilotnoM. on 19 Nov 08, 11:59:41
I think maybe you don't understand how easy it would be for (insert corrupt rich individual here) to just go into the bowels of any third world country, extract a few thousand willing individuals from the multitudes and train them to be absolutely loyal killing machines in their own right.
