I agree with you, but I would surmise that both mediums each have their own unique characteristics. I think that some of the time consuming aspects can be avoided by using a computer, which would make it useful for doing a quick work, but I myself favor paper and pencil :]

You'd be surprised how hard it is to create the same quality of work using a computer. From my observation when you are able to paint using a computer you are able to paint using your hands. But I do agree, I enjoy watching traditional art being made and I also enjoy creating art with traditional methods.

a talented artist does not need the aid of a computer. it is very good but i am a fan of more traditional mediums. mixing paint to find the right color, prelim sketches, using actual tools and not digital technology. you can argue all you want this is just a sign of whats to come. a bunch of graphic designers sitting in an office and not in a studio producing digital art. its sad that the next few generations learning aids will be an apple computer screen and a mouse and not a canvas and brush.

Once again you've jumped to a conclusion. Where have I said anything about following just one campaign? I followed all the campaigns and whilst I have no problems with McCain per se, I had enormous difficulties with his running mate. I would regularly try and find out exactly what daft thing Palin had come up with - following Biden wasn't that interesting because he rarely put a foot wrong. So rather than jump to conclusions I'll restate my problems with Murdochs Fox news, not McCain.

you're actually discussing an ACADEMIC approach to UNDERSTANDING swing... But, the pros don't use that triplet concept... they swing based on their own personal feeling... it has less to do with mathematics. If you compare the swing of Lee Konitz to the swing of Michael Brecker, or Chick Corea's to Wynton Kelly's, you'll see that they swing in different degrees, so to speak. Swing also has to do with the dynamics and the articulation of notes. I've heard Chick say that Mozart's music swings.

well for starters the swinging of notes is actually just a shortened version of writing different rhythms, more closer to 12/8 then 4/4 or whatever you use. it is really just simpler to read 4/4 and say the notes "swing". another thing, however you want to play the music, cool, as long as it sounds good. i didnt really even hear a swing anyways so...

Correct. With this grip it is designed for strength on the OUTSIDE mallet unlike the older cross grip which tends to be stronger on the inside mallet. This places the dominant melodic mallet in the strongest position. The left hand is not quite as active or as strong in terms of its requirements in common playing. Outside and inside is ok as is 2x insides. 2x outside means the insides are floating in each other's way. Using the strongest mallet for the primary melodic line makes sense. ;-)

I think many here are suggesting that any grip where the mallets cross in the palm of the hand is called crossgrip. Its a reasonable label, but not strictly accurate. Movement of the thumb over the mallet as you are suggesting is INDEED only a variation of the grip and I agree should not be considered a different grip. There is still a misunderstanding. The original cross grip is different in that the shaft of the inside mallet passes UNDER the outside mallet rather than the other way around.

That decision, to not release Batman's origin fully, was not Tim Burton's, it was Sam Hamm's. If you are giving Batman fault for it's plot, that has less to do with Tim Burton and more to do with Sam Hamm. Tim Burton didn't write the script. Even with that, I think that the second Batman film, Batman Returns, which Tim Burton had way more creative control over, fared much better than the 1st. However, the first one was not that great, which I concede to.

Watch the first Batman movie again though. It DOESNT HOLD UP AT ALL nowadays. Batman isn't even the main character, Vicky is. And Vicky and her writer friend are HORRIBLE characters. You don't even find out Batman's parents died when he was a kid until...what...like 3/4 of the way through the film! That's what defines him!!! It should be right at the beginning! Nicholson was awesome, but damn, the script is pretty bad.

I think the main problem Kevin Smith has with Batman is that is heavely deviates from the source material, to which I say: Who cares? I understand that you're mad, but Batman is more of an icon than a character, and is a vehicle used to in a variety of difference stories. If you view Tim Burton's films just as a film, not as something part of a larger set of Batman-related media, I think it compares quite favorably.
