At a time when they were playing for tens of thousands in Europe, they couldn't get 100 people at a small club ... and the lights overloaded the circuits. The power went out at least three times. Both do a tremendous job. Each draw ideas, sound, and expressive qualities from the greate tradition of tenor players. I love the edge and fattness of Carter's sound. I love that he's not afraid to get wild, but JR has that sweet smooth control that is clean as a whistle. Every player worth his salt should be conversant with other player's sounds and licks - used creatively and not as a crutch. At about 4:40 I loose in Carter's playing - it lacks artistry and thought. Jr never looses that.

I have to agree for the following: these two have clearly made this song their own. A undique and swingy version. Head an shoulders above just a rendition. Wow and unbeleivable arrangement I have to say. I have been singing this for 10 shows with my singing partner this season 2008 and have really gotten behind the interpretation. Ray and Betty make this seen so easy. Really goes beyond the usual offering, (ok I'll stop now)
