At the end they talk about why that guy had to drive so dangerously to get away? Its because the cops kept pushing him. With the chopper watching, they could have just backed off. The way the police kept chasing him, he could have hit and killed somebody. The chopper could have told them where he was going, and the cops could have stayed out of sight on parallel streets, then closed in when he stopped and got out.

I still do NOT understand why the hell police bother chasing when you have traffic in the air watching his every move. All the police are doing is creating more possible chances for someone to be seriously hurt or even killed by giving him a reason to run. The second that they had eyes in the air on the scene, they should always pull back and wait for the suspect to exit the vehicle.

For sure, Ronin is the pinacle of perfection when it comes to car chases. Frankenheimer didn't pull any punches here. No music, the chases are exciting enough. No jittery fast cuts a la the Bourne movies. He lets you see the REAL action. The cars are really going that fast. Check out the BMW Film "Ambush" for what might have been. Frankenheimer was planning on filming another car chase movie and he wanted to use some new techniques that he tried out in "Ambush", but alas it was not to be :(

This is all danged crazy, but I think I still have to take Bullitt ahead of it. For a start, the Mustang and Charger sounded better. Secondly, the 'Stang was professionally set up by a top Trams-Am team, and you can really tell it. Dat's just cool. Also, it was Steve McQueen. C'mon. He's the best racer of any actor ever, rivaled only by James Garner. Besides that, this is an easy second.

Watched McQueen damn near win the 12 hours of Sebring in 1970,so,yes he could drive...Motor Trend did a writeup on the chase scene at the time and indicated the remaining Charger was sold to a used car lot after filming...All the cars had beefed up frames as a stock suspenion would have folded up like a camp tent on the jumps(or landings). The scene where Steve overcooks the corner and goes straight-on wasn't planned.The bad guys weren't actors but stuntmen...

They only put tape on the "NIKON" and "D90" logo. The mic is near that, but they didn't cover it (intentionally, IF they did) I don't think they would want to cover it because they where there to test the photo- as well als the video functionality... which includes using the mic.
