What???? Er..."this man" wrote the damned song! And I believe this version pre-dates alex "do it like any other pop song" burke by at least a decade judging by Cohen's appearance..probably more.

okay, i think most people agree that the versions made after this where better, but you've got to consider the fact that this was the original, and leonard cohen wrote it himself. i personally like jeff buckley's version best, but the people who only heard it a few weeks ago because of the xfactor and think that they should think about the fact that alot of the versions where huge hits and the people that sung them didn't find fame via reality tv.

I don't like many versions of this song because I don't feel they grasped the emotion in it. And the emotion I mean is that shown Rufus Wainwright's and Jeff Buckley's versions. Although, they are completely different to Leonard's version and of course he wrote it, so maybe it was me who got it wrong! But of course it's opinion. I must say I don't like this version at all but big respect to Leonard Cohen for writing it and all his other fantastic songs!
