A nice version of a classic Corea tune at the Blue Note Tokyo in 1992. I also have "new waltz" and "tumba" in two parts uploaded here. They're just as good.

No two drummers have the same groove. No matter how hard one tries to copy another. Gadd, Vinnie and Weckl all do their own thing at the very best level of excellence

amen to that Filipo...I have read most of the comments on here and someone accused Steve of " playin to the crowd"...In my mind thats what music has, mostly, to be about. Gene Krupa understood that perfectly. It is, afterall, entertainment and its something I have learned time and time again from playing percussion live. Steve understand this too-- more power to his elbow....Give me soul, feel and the use of silence over pure technique anytime. This applies to the voice and all other instruments-

Three of the most talented drummers alive today. Steve Gadd plays on a different plane entirely. I would have loved to see a face off between him and Buddy Rich, like the old ones between Buddy and Ed Shaunnessey

minimalize to accomplish the max. i myself switched to just kick snare and hihat for example. and after a while i got more groove and tightness then i could imagine

I'm a vocalist, not a drummer myself. That being said, these three are fantastic, but what especially amazes me is how well Steve Gadd understands the importance of silences in music. When not to hit the drums rather than when (or how fast) to hit them. That's what drums are all about to me, as a listener of course. I personally prefer the drummer who makes me smile than the one who drops my jaw. I hope it makes some sense to you experts =)

Right. But we all know that Vinnie CAN groove, if not necessarily in the way Steve does it. I guess Vinnie just gave the audience what they expected him to do, just like Steve did it. Steve is known to be THE GROOVER, so what else was he supposed to do? Vinnie has other strengths. He is maybe the most versatile all round drummer there is. Could you imagine Steve playing on a Megadeth Album? I dunno

Pretty soon, the Triplet fill is going to go the way of an over used cliche lick....

Gadd is the only true original out of the three. Oops, did I just say that?

All I mean is, look at a drummers skill like you look at someone in sports....its NOT ALL about one skill like speed, groove, crowd reaction, etc.....Its a combination of them all that makes a well rounded player. Gadd is AWESOME at groove and feel, but so is Weckl and Vinnie, but you give me a video of Gadd doing a "chop" that is anywhere close to being as difficult as Dave and Vinnie, or something I cant do...THEN Ill believe you

They all add something unique to the table, but Vinnie's linear drumming just takes the cake in this faceoff, in my opinion of course. Steve is always awesome though, and Dave..makes good drumsticks. Great chops too.

Always think of Seinfeld when I see Dave with his mullet.
