The sandbox thing sounds more cpu limited than gpu limited, nonetheless the 260 is a great card, make sure you get the one with 216 sps. Well, the jump from an 8600 GS to a GT isn't a day and night difference, but in really demanding games like Supreme Commander among others you'd notice a difference in framerate, especially if you're using an overclocked card or the XXX version like mine. Ofcourse if you want a huge difference in framerate you'd have to atleast jump to an 8800. Although the 9800s are super performers, as you can see from the lag-free video, and they're coming down in price pretty quickly too.

Well, I got my 8600 when it was still about to just above mid-range. But hey, it still works great. I like to fiddle with the Crysis Sandbox and I use it on high! :D It works fine unless you're trying to blow up 100 barrels or tower 500 crates. :P Ofcourse on most PCs that would lock-up anyway. What I'm planning on getting is an nVidia GT 260.

That's not true, and it is VERY unsafe to just assume a chip can hit a certain overclock. Also, while you can overclock it, you sacrifice system stability and the chip's lifespan is shorter. It's actually very easy to screw up an overclock and ruin the chip completely, especially if they're just assuming their chip can reach those clocks. Every chip is different and should be treated as such. Also for this game, if the chip's cache is too small it won't matter the clock speeds you reach.

I remeber one time I actually hacked the rom(i have the snes cartridge along with the console) so that every single fighter acted like a ACE so that everything was harder and slighly less predictable The normal enemy AI works of variables such as where you are the speed you are moving and what weapon you got but after a little you can usually guess what the enemy does next(turning etc) but a ACE always does a random movement rather than a turn left as you fire torpedoes makes it so much fun

I would love another sequel in the WC series. Imagine how they could make a game like this look these days, with most gamers owning either a dual or quad core system, or a console with virtually the same possibilities. All they do is remake the same shitty military FPS games until everyone pukes. I'm sick of it. A Wing Commander remake or sequel would even be original these days. But no, they choose to do remakes of horrible platformers like Bionic Commando. At least give us a new Megaman FFS.

I would love it if they'd bring back WC. I think the closest we'll ever get though is that xbox live title...which wasn't all that great, but was still a fresh WC title. Origin systems was bought out by Electronic Arts...so they own the rights to the game pretty much. Lots of luck if they ever bring it back.

loved this game!!!! had it on pc early on...then snes, ps and ps2. it plays in my ps3 just cant save anything =( this game was SOOO AHEAD OF ITS TIME its not funny. nobody hardly plays sci-fi sims except star wars. they REALLY need to redo this game for ps3 and xbox. is there anyway we can petition atari or sum gamemaker???
