If I were to compare his voice to anyone else's, I'd go more with Mel Torme's anyway. Harry has that smooth, breathy quality like Torme, especcially here. Harry looks like Harry, though and that's a good thing because he's dreamy just the way he is!

Doesn't make sense to argue with imbeciles. To the average rock and roll idiot, any tune which features brass, strings, piano and decent song composition is labeled "jazz". They need to go back to listening to shit like Metallica, Nirvana, U2, Britney and that electronica shit.

You are flogging a dead horse trying to define what is and is not jazz. Without an appeal to sentiment -inherent in the best renderings of popular ballads by vocalists and solo instrumentalists- most so-called jazz makes little appeal. Improvisation and inflections are paramount in the best jazz recordings of ballads but showing off virtuoso technical skills and playing "my most recent composition" are now the order of the day. Connick is amongst contemporaries with real individual feel.

For those who think he looks or even sounds like Frank Sinatra, even when Frank was young, nah. Not even close. Actually in my opinion I think Harry has a better sounding voice. I love the crooners.

From When Harry Met Sally, 1989 movie, Harry's song fits perfectly for New York city, Billy Cristal and Meg Ryan is a great couple. Nice piece of jazz. I'd like having dinner in Rainbow Room listening this song. Harry is a great piano player, like his songs a lot.

There are several kinds of jazz - this IS one of them. All good, in my opinion. But nobody likes anything shoved down their throat. I used to detest opera and classical music when I had to take Music Appreciation. Then I sat down years later and actually listened to it because I had the time and I'd gotten curious. Now, I catch myself singing "La donna e mobile" from Verdi's Rigoletto in the shower along with "I'm Just A Love Machine!!" Go figure!
