I think it will be more likely that the batteries are wired in series to get 48 volts. On the type of motor they're using, this gives a higher speed than using just 12 volts.

Thats really cool... I would like to see you guys clean up the looks of the bike. Maybe custom containers for the side batteries or something. Also what is the range on it. Looks like 4x car batteries, or are they deep cycle marene batteries? Either way I'm guessing they are about 60amp hours each. So combined 240Ah at 12v. So thats a good 2.88KWhr's. I'm guessing the motor is about 5KW's? So 1/2hr of riding at full speed... 20-30 mile range would be my guess. Let me know the specifics.

a123s would be probably too small. F cells are huge (almost the diameter of a mason jar). The higher cell voltage would come in handy here but the small cell size would be depleted fairly quickly.

With the same weight you could use a battery with a much higher energy density like Ni-MH F cells and likely double the distance it could go on a charge as well as eliminate the possibility of sulfating the cells if you run it too low.

Ok, since you're serious... 1) AC doesn't suck, it's cheaper cleaner, more efficient than gas. 2) ACs are faster than by design. 3) ACs are ALL torque - no ramping up like gas. Most AC's are de-tuned so drivers can handle it. Google AC drag racing. 4) AC makes a cool noise like a UFO. 5) AC Charging does take longer than gas, but ruin the earth just to save a few minutes? That's lame. 6) The earliest cars were AC, not gas. If batteries were good then, we might have NO gas cars at all.

Nice idea. Too bad the builders didn't have access to some better materials and higher efficiency batteries and a more ecological manner of charging them. Still, digging through the GOMI, you're not likely to find better. Too much time is spent on the battery tray, which anybody could fabricate, and not enough time is spent on the tuning of the drive train and the nameless "electronics" in the bike--which are much more of interest to the viewer. Good job!

Thanks for the comment. Actually, I consider this project to be remarkably simple, except for the wiring, whcih I had my buddy do. So simple in fact, that I was able to do it with no previous experience. It makes you wonder why the big manufacturers have been dragging their feet for so long.

Don't know if this would work but did yeah try adding a heater to heat the batteries to a set temp? And run the power of the heater from off the home power or separate battery pack during the cold? If it works better in say 75 and above then set the heater to just that.

Yes, I most certainly do know the Lord personally. The medieval Christians believed in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, as did Martin Luther and all the other Protestant reformers. The reformation had nothing to do with the Eucharist or with idolatry. There were other errors the church had fallen into at that time which triggered the Reformation. You clearly don't know your church history.

last year when i was 17 i made the 7-10 2 times in a 3 and a half week period. it truly is luck but you need to have a little bit of ball speed. i find playing more left and hitting the 10 pin (im a righty) into the back right and side wall corner i bounce the 10 pin out about 50% of the time. it may not go across the lane but i will roll back up or hit the back of the deck. try playing more across lane to have a shot at making it. :)

while it is a very lucky thing to happen.. you can't call it 100% luck.. there are a couple things you can do to increase the chances of a conversion. for example.. if you hit the right side of the 7 pin, there's almost no chance of it crossing.. but if you hit the left side of it.. you make it possible.

I just got my truck back from the shop tonight, its a 2007 Ford F150, they installed a similar 8000K HID kit in the headlights and foglights. However they must have ordered the wrong bulbs because I only have low beams. I intend on going in tomorrow morning to get the matter resolved but my one question is that now that I have everything else in place like the wiring and the ballasts, all that I need to correct this problem is a dual filament bulb? I won't need to change the ballasts, etc. (?)

This is just perfect timing! I just got my 2007 F150 back from the shop where I had 8000K HID's installed for both the headlights and the foglights. However the shop did not buy the right bulbs so I only have low beams. I intend on going back tomorrow morning to get everything sorted out. But my one question is: the ballasts and everything are obviously installed and in place, so all I need to fix this problem is a dual filament HID bulb?

The Mother Earth News has an article in their Dec 2007 issue titled Solar Heating Plan for Any Home. This uses a flat panel drain back collector and a 500 gallon tank of water for thermal storage. The heat is then piped to an in floor radiant heating system. I wonder how a parabolic like this or the trough one from your earlier video would do in place of the flat panel.

I see the suggestion to barter with homebrew every so often but it must be a regional thing. Around here people want cash. I had the same idea when I wanted some fittings welded into the kegs.

GREAT IDEA... Can't wait til I make mine. Once suggestion. Just take your kegs to a local body and fender shop and in about 10 minutes they can cut all 3 for you with a Plasma Cutter. Easy no noise and safer for you. Plus they will do it for free if you offer them some homebrew. Cheers

Thanks for the video. I finally got myself a grinder and a couple clamps to do try my hand at this project. Everything worked out very well due to your demonstration. What kind of grinder do you have, and what kind of wheel do you have on it? I got a light duty mitsubishi with the stock grinding wheel, and it took about 15 minutes to cut the top. A few extra minutes was a small price to pay for such an easy job. Thanks again. PW

I just finished cutting my keggle exactly the same way as BobbyFromNJ, and lived to tell about it. If you're careful and use quality clamps, everything is okay. My clamps were just as tight as when I started. I wore gloves, hearing protection, long shirt and pants, and a full face shield. It took about 15-20 minutes to build a jig from stuff I already had in the garage, then about 2 minutes to cut the keg. I'm really pleased with the results. Thanks, BobbyFromNJ - what a time-saver!

Kidding aside, I should have had long pants and sleeves on and probably a full face shield. I'd recommend that if you want to increase safety. Carnage though? That's a bit alarmist if you ask me. It's not like I removed the guard. Disc shrapnel COULD be a concern but I've done 5 kegs like this so far without incident.

You're correct though it's sad that we have to put a warning on just about everything as if we suppose everyone is devoid of good judgement. This was within the realm of general safety for me but feel free to NOT do it if you're worried about absolute safety. In fact, don't drink beer at all, it might damage your liver. Don't forget to wear a helmet and look both ways when you cross too. ;-)

Wreckless to cut without holding the cutter. Just not safe at all, plain dangerous even. The clamps may work in this video, but can easily come loose depending on circumstance. Imagine the carnage. Don't try this.

It tells you the volume of water or wort in the vessel. You have to calibrate it with gallon/quart increments on the tube. Then you can fill the mlt to the exact infusion volume you want. At sparge time, you watch the hlt sight as you pump it over. Also goot on the BK to measure pre and post boil volumes.

No, you're thinking of Hoff Stevens kegs with the side bung. I had couplings welded in for the drain, a thermometer and sight glass for each of the three kegs. It's running me about $135 for the welding labor.

It really depends on where you get the keg and how much you pay to have it welded. Just as an example, I got one from the scrapyard for $36 and paid $50 for welding. All said and done, I got a 15 gallon pot for $100. I'd say most stockpots that size with bulkheads installed would be over $200.
