when they were shooting this scene, after a bunch of takes, roger shouted, "this is the first and last bloody film i make!". no wonder people think theres bad acting here! if i was pushed to some stairs and dragged around by my freakin awesome hair, i wouldnt look very convincing, either. give poor roger a break.

I agree 100% to that comment. They should've hired a better singer most definitely. It's funny how I find myself enjoying most of the "added" interludes in the songs, they're really clever..

I agree that there are hints of sadness and lonliness, fear and anger under the sadism and I think Tommy's mother and stepfather are aware of what's happening but leave him to it anyway. Tommy's a really complex dark piece with glorious music to shelter in.
