What? 75%? You do realize that you are saying 3 of every 4 teenagers practice self mutilation right? Which is an obvious over statement. I would say 10%, at most, have experimented with this. If you were right, nearly every kid would refuse to wear short sleeves...which isn't the case.

that's like saying an alchoholic can't relate to a pill popper. addict's are addicts, and trauma victims are trauma victims. while the song does specifically mention cutting as a means of coping, the underlying issues are the sense of selves in these people. Someone may feel the exact way you do, except their choice of self destruction may be drinking, or drugs, or eating disorders, etc. Feelings are the same, the only thing that differs is your reaction to them.

Who are you kidding dude? I have heard the lyrics. It is about cutting. Her interview on CNN was a firm reminder. You would have to be missing a part of basic speech, listening, to miss the point of this song. Do you even understand English, or have you just gotten away with babbling on with it?

I hate it when people make songs like this. Not everyone had this reason for cutting. I never felt sad or anything, I was angry whenever I did it. Not everyone feels numb. Not everyone does it to feel "alive". It is a beautiful song, and I'm sure that a lot of people have that as a reason, but I think this kind of thing kind of gives people the wrong idea.
