yeah that's what i thought but this is done really well. i've only read the play but, first of all, you're not sure there was molestation- there's doubt. and really almost everything's already been done before, it's the way it's done.

I saw this movie and I don't think Hoffman's character did anything to the boy. I think Streeps character prejudged him and Hoffman's character had no choice but to to a preliminary measure to stop any rumors. He was in a tricky position.

I'm Catholic and I WANT to see this movie. Because we sin just as much as anyone else (yes, I am aware the film is open to intrepretation) and it is tragic. "My" pastor, for example, is a wonderful PERSON but annoys me sometimes as a pastor. He won't state his view on abortion. Either say you support it--yes, it would be a scandal, but you wouldn't betray your belief--or say you don't. No willy-nilly!

I disagree. he could've been hiding his homosexuality (strongly hinted at throughout the film) and his role as a mentor to the black student who was clearly gay (his mother's comments about how his father beats and hates him because of his "nature" amongst other examples). the point of the film at the end is that we are not sure.

That's a guilty man right there. In the film, she lies and says she has gone to former co-workers regarding his "past" -- instead of being calm and collected -- he loses it. No need, unless you have something to hide.
