You want people to kill themselves that describe trawling and dredging the ocean as domestic terrorism? We really really bother you and make you look like a criminal hey? Done my job here thank :)

Cohpscanada...Please, when you're done crying, kill yourself. You actually made scallops sound more friggen appetizing by whining and bitching about it.

Dragging for scallops is not killing the planet. I suggest you see the research done by UMASS-Dartmouth's SMAST program.
By: dkmac123. on 01 Jul 08, 18:03:20
Trawling by (most) vessels is NOT damaging, it is done over predominately soft seabed so you don't damage your gear. Agreed Clamming is more destructive but again you avoid sea mounts/hard ground as that is not a clams habitat. Crabs/lobsters do not come up mangled and can be returned alive. The majority of fishermen are not ocean rapists as some idiots want to believe, only a handful fuck it up for the rest a bit like some conservastionists and their misguided ranting.Give us a break.

People that knowingly eat dredged scallops are committing an economic and environmental act based on my marine experience. One person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter. To Hell with trawler terrorists!!
By: capeace. on 22 Jun 08, 16:22:55
Its really no different than tilling a field, sure the bottom gets roughed up but it keeps species like scallops from smothering the bottom of the ocean. Ever see the bottom in the Closed areas? Scallops cover the whole bottom & some places 10ft. deep. Ya thats great for the groundfish that thgey closed the area for. Everybody should go eat some scallops.

If trawling and dredging wasn't killing the oxygen there would be plenty for us both. Ocean trawling is the worst form of environmental and economic terrorism that exists today. Corruption to the max!! Never eat scallops.
By: capeace. on 21 Jun 08, 22:47:12
& your wasting my oxygen

How can this be legal yet fishing for Razorfish using electricity is illegal ? our electrodes just stun the non-targeted species for a short time and allow us to pick the Razors off the seabed, the SFPA are a bunch of cum guzzling gutter whores !!!!
By: capie99. on 10 Dec 07, 01:31:31
are you a fishermen leewest , by your answer it sure doesnt sound like it , stirrs up feed haha thats the best one ive heard , you think the ocean floor is all sand and rock i think not , most fish , lobster , crab , all are born , eat , mature , take cover from predetors under these rocks , sea coral and sea foam , ect
By: Appleby1970. on 05 Dec 07, 11:39:24
Interesting use of the word 'facts' - Can you point to any independent studies which back up what you are saying?
By: leewest322. on 05 Dec 07, 01:57:07
i know ground that is dredged regualy and its still thriving fishing ground so cant be that bad for the bottom ! plus it sturs up feed for other fish just like birds follow a tractor plowing a field. think people should get there facts right before destroying peoples jobs and livlyhoods

They plan to do that to the Lyme Bay reefs - one of the best diving, angling and pot-fishing areas on the english south coast.
By: TheYowser. on 30 Nov 07, 15:21:07
That's incredible! How can anyone who sees that support the dredging of the Lyme Bay reefs?
