I worked with this guy for 3 years, hes a scream! Just so you know the tumble dryers had been decommisioned when he did this prank, so they were not using gas, but blowing cold air. i do however have a clip of the first one he made, that was funny as they run on gas and get hot straight away, much mch funnier than this clip, but ill never put it on.

I think that one of my dad's friends actually had this critter...I can't remember which one, though, or if that really was the case, but I definately remember seeing it and wanting it. As a young repairman in the late 70's, my husband repaired an old dryer that played this song. Well Eric, you are just the guy to set them straight! The engineers at McNeilus should listen to the route driver if they want to continue to make better trucks! You having so much experiences with this, would be the perfect person to make some suggestions! I know in my business, I learn a lot from listening to the guys out in the field! Luckily, even with the PTO inoperable you can still let the body down, its just slower. The pain was figuring out what the problem was initially. Months after my experience I heard another driver on the 2way talking about having the same issue at the transfer station, he raised the body up and everything shut down before he could get the truck dumped, I told him to check out that door and sure enough, it was the same problem. Hex screws would be much better. Wing Nuts= WTF???

I have mixed feelings on that issue, I've always ran manual/semi auto routes, almost ten years now, and the older I get the better the fully automated trucks look to me. I've never ran any type of automated truck before, but I know that if I operated one I would eventually end up missing the manual loading, even though it can be hard on the body. To me that is part of the fun, the satisfaction received from actually getting out of the truck and dealing with the situation personally.

Thats a serious issue and hard to believe that McNeilus still uses those stupid wing-nuts! So, with the body half way up in the air, some poor guy would have to climb up there and hold the switch so you can lower it back down? Someone should write McNeilus a very serious letter about this! Some machine head HEX screws would probably be cheaper to use and would never break or cause any other issues. No, I work in Los Angeles picking up recycling at apartment complexes that have 95 gallon carts by rehrig. And its basically a pull out service, but we use frontloaders with 2 bayne cart tippers on the front that tip the barrels into the bin. Our routes are so tight now its like residential service, only its pull out and put back, and clean up all the mess. So we run frontloaders and we have 1 rearloader with 2 tippers on the back which is also cool.

If they break off and the trap door comes loose you will have a nice surprise when you go to dump out-it happened to me once. There is a prox switch inside the door that shuts all the hydraulics down when it is opened, so when the body gets about halfway into the air the door comes open enough to shut everything down and you're screwed until the door can be held shut hahaha. I was like "WTF?" took awhile to figure out thats what the problem was.

We have as many as 10 or more trash companies to choose from in some parts of the city of Wichita. In my route area I have 3 significant competitors, one of which is Waste Management, the other two are local companies.One of these local companies will not be much of competitor anymore I believe, but the other one, Lies Trash Service, is the big one. WM isnt much of a threat. I have much respect for Lies, even though we are in competition, but I would like to see WM gone from here.

Nope, I only had the blower on when I first started the dryer like that. I had the heater off at the time. When I closed the door I put the heater back on. The main reason was to only show the dryer spining.

It does not work with all dents. Certain dents do not streched the metal in a way that allows this technique to work. Or, if the metal is dented/ streched alot, this method cannot shrink the metal enough to get it back to original. Or, if there are creased in the metal, this method will probably not entirely remove it, it may reduce the dent, but not remove it. If you were to take your hand and punch your door, that is the kind of dent this works best on. I hope that helps

No, this method is not a haox! When you get a dent, the metal is streched from the impact (or what ever caused the dent). By heatign the metal, you are allowing it to axpand slightly, and then when you apply the extreme cold, the metal contracts, to it's shape/size before the dent. Ask any autobody man and I garentee you he will say it works.
