Oh, I don't know. It's certainly off-color, but friends rant like that to each other sometimes. I think Siskel's getting a liiiiiiittle too serious at points, but I think he maintains a certain sense of sarcasm that suggests he doesn't REALLY believe in a massive conspiracy. As for the sniping, eh, I think we've all flipped out at friends at times, especially when under pressure or defensive. I don't think we can really condemn two people over a bloopers clip.

I just never liked this film. I just thought that it was terrible. I could see why Tarantino took his name off of it. I disagree with thei opinions on this one. It wasn't the violence that spurned me, I've seen worse. It was the fact that it just did not seem to be a well made film. Actors over acted or under acted, which made it seem unbalanced, to me at least, but YMMV.

I could say that this film had more of a focus on how the parental education can influence a person to be in the future and the reasons of why killing becomes a nature in a human beings life. No you're certainly right about box office success saying very little about how good a movie is, and I think if Heath Ledger was still alive the Dark Knight would still be a really great success, but not in the $700 million region as of today, maybe closer to five and a half. Incidentally, check out Mark Kermode's radio review of TDK on YouTube, because that critic does sort of agree with you about much of the film having a subdued, restrained tone to it. I just thought 'The Dark Knight' was kinda ordinary. Sure it had a good twist in the plot, but the movie was just too mono-toned - no humor at all. Plus the sudden loud noises, just to make it more dramatic, irritated me. It was more about the Joker anyway, than Batman (who talks like he's constantly got a peanut caught in his throat). It just made me think that its box office success doesn't necessarily mean that Ishtar's financial unsuccess makes it a bad movie.

"O Brother" was not a high point, but still better than just about anyone else's work. Hudsucker and Lebowski were both masterpieces. The more I look at Ebert's track record, the more I'm convinced he was an idiot. He ripped apart "Blue Velvet" on the totally irrelevant issue of David Lynch not making Isabella Rosselini look glamorous enough in her nude scene. Stupid and pointless.

I dunno, that seems pretty plausible to me. Batman doesn't care about being the hero everyone likes, he puts the mission above all else. Everyone hates Batman. The mob, lots of cops, even other superheroes. He's not in the business to make friends, and he doesn;t have any. Sure WE think he's a hero because we're on the outside looking in, but the people of Gotham who he cares about and wants to protect want his blood. Doing great with the bats movies, how about another JLA member DC?

was a great film, though i have to say, it was too long for me, and for the UK it should have been a 15 rating, the BBFC system is so easy to find loop-holes in, the 12A is really bad you can go in as young as 8 and that really is too young. otherwise Heath Ledger was no longer an actor he really was The Joker for those 2 hrs.

He's mellowed out over the years, but he used to be easily offended by a lot of things. He would find faults in films on moral grounds and call them artistic merits, but you could tell when he was morally offended by something. Sweet sick and depraved masterpiece. I don't even remember where i heard about this movie, none of my friends have seen it, people who i show clips to think i'm insane. My favorite of all time...it's haunting, mesmerizing, uplifting, sexy. I can somehow relate my own life to it, the seedy underbelly and chirping birds are something we've all experienced in some form or another. The guy w/the glasses is a dipshit, it's "campy and smarmy" to enhance the wickedness of the darker scenes.

rara1800, my friend. This is one of those films where it is definitely worth the $10-$15 it costs to get at the video store. David Lynch's "Blue Velvet" is a beautiful film filled with amazing and mindblowing images. Also, to answer your book question. This is not based on a book. It is a completely original story written by the director David Lynch. In addition, I would recommend other Lynch films such as Wild At Heart, Mulholland Drive, and if you get interested into Lynch, Eraserhead.

As a military spouse we have been moved to countless small towns where Wal-Mart is the only option to shop and work. Jobs like that are not "a dime a dozen" in many towns across the U.S.. This was the only "Stephen King" book, other than "The Shining", that made a half way decent transition to a movie. Things of course had to be changed. In the book he gets his feet chopped off. In "The Shining" the hotel blows up at the end of the book and kills Mr. Torrence. This was an awesome movie though. Also, in the book the old Sheriff was run over by Annie Wilkes with a riding lawn mower. She just chopped him up into little Sheriff pieces. LOL

Do your research. The accident happened many years after the novel was published. King had a drug and alcohol problem, he wrote Misery as a metaphor for his addiction. He said so pretty explicitly in his book On Writing.

People forget that Whoopi Goldberg, Mira Sorvino, Tatum O'Neal, Mary Steenburgen, Sally Field, Geena Davis, Kim Basinger, Roberto Benigni, Holly Hunter, Marlee Matlin, Faye Dunaway, and Cuba Gooding Jr. all won oscars, and look at their careers now. And one more thing.....Martin Scorsese was screwed royally by Hollywood by not getting the Oscar for best direction at least twice....for Raging Bull in 1980 (beaten out by "Ordinary People" - are you friggen kidding me!) and in 1990 by "Dances With Wolves" - WTF!). He should have probably won for "Taxi Driver" in 1976, but was not endeared to the Hollywood power establishment, like Robert Redford and Kevin Costner.

I know Joe Pesci won the Oscar in this movie but Ray Liotta's performance was much better. He made this movie great. From his narration to pistol-whipping the preppy in his driveway, his performance was flawless. And who can forget that laugh! - I freak-out my family by occasionally doing the Ray Liotta laugh. I love the godfather, but as its been said many times before, GoodFellas was on the dot, the godfather had to make two movies before they got the mafia life exact, as shown in godfather two, when the characters are much darker, goodfellas got it right the first time, not to mention, goodfellas is based on a true story, whereas the godfather is very loosely based on Vito Genovese

That's true, goodfellas portrays the mafia more accurately, the Godfather was romanticized. Altogether, though, I have to say the Godfather is the greater film. The Godfather has tragic scenes,such as Vito Corleone's death in the garden, suspenseful scenes, such as the horse head and Micheal murdering the cop and solozzo in the restaurant. Goodfellas didn't have the same intensity. I am saying this as a huge Goodfellas fan. Both movies are in my top 5.

I think so as well (though I love the original Godfather); what I especially like about Goodfellas is that it shows mob workings from the point of view of the low-ranking guys who actually did most of the everyday work, as well as how it doesn't romanticize the mob world - watching the Godfather movies it sometimes seems as if Coppola wants you to admire these people in some way. In Goodfellas, you are watching low-life scum that commit repellent acts, which is what mobsters are.

What's weird is that Spielberg didn't want to end it back then. He wanted another two or three, but he wasn't sold on Lucas's idea (the Crystal Skulls - yep the idea is that old). Seeing that Spielberg wouldn't budge on the idea, Lucas split to work on Star Wars projects for ten or so years, and Spielberg went on to make Schindler's List and others. The "end" of the franchise
