I am guessin you are starting the solusion at room temperature, I would recomend you start with the solusion at around 100 degrees. This should start up your reaction right away.

thanx for the AKVO link.I dont want to jump to any conclusions yet,but im getting some bigger pieces of flint and want to use potassium carbonate instead of the sodium carbonate. potassium has a lower activation energy,and i feel this would lower the energy level required for ignition. that and i want to experiment with semiconductors as a catalyst,thats why i included silicon carbide. worth a try

thanx for your comment put aside the theories of Fleischmann and Pons and others who came before them just for a moment (i.e.H loving electrodes such as palladium and tungsten,and the heavy stuff), and consider an electrode that is made of substances that are combustable at room temperature,when finely divided. as it tries to ignite it is quenched by the electrolyte. it's certainly worth a look ,i feel.4

i was thinking about different materials for electrodes,and i have always been amazed by the properties of mischmetal/flint. i used to pull it out of lighters and wrap the spring around it,then heat it to dull red and it would get hotter all by itself,then i would throw it and make a sparkler affect. so i thought maybe that extra heat would be transferred to the electrolyte.

Are you finding that it doesn't take as much power to get the plasma, and do the electrodes degrade quickly? It would be a neat set up to have 2 or 3 pairs of electrodes for start up, med term, long term reactions...for cars and such.

I am gonna do another video soon with more advanced processing, to make it into a more useful musical instrument. The only effects added are compression to get uniform volume and reverb to cut the crackly high-frequency noise. It really doesn't sound much different without the verb.

John, what was your concern about using a 3-5psi for a valve? Wouldn't the higher presure reduce the likelyhood of ignition into the canister anyway? May take a little longer to prime the system, but in the cells I've seen, I don't suspect that would be long anyway. Also would a second check valve (higher preasure), be needed on the canister as well?

Nice work John, One thing I noticed it looks like you have rubber between the electrodes and the cover. The electrode should be sandwiched with a nut first before the rubber to keep the connection tight. Otherwise I see high resistance with increased heat and amps.

I wonder, if the meyers system had a very large alternator, my friend thinks that the big "electric motor" in the car may be a high power alternator, like an rv or truck setup. This larger power supply would increase productivity of the system as a whole. I think that an extra pulley can run an isolated alternator, to power the gas generator, and the extra drag on the engine would be justified, when running extra water. At this rate, we would need a water tank, as the systems burn 1 litre pr hr.

No.... I have tried many other electrolytes but Lye still works the best... It takes a lot less Lye to make the Hydrogen than the others. But having said that.. the other works... you just have to use more... John AArons

Try the McMaster-Carr web site..they manufacture barbed check valves with breaking values of 0.5 psi, for under $5.00 apiece.(Thanks to ElectrikRide for sharing this invaluable source) Also, I was able to find a couple of non-barbed valves, as a quick fix remedy, at an auto parts store..had to wrap the tiny ends with rubber bands to form an airtight seal for the 1/4" hose connections but they seem to work fine in preventing back-flow from the bubbler to the generator. Keep up the great work!

One element missing on all the cells seems to be a blowout cap. If that sucker ignites in a closed container --- it can and will kill/mame someone... maybe an innocent bystander(lawsuit!). You may want to put a large hole in the side of the cell body with a rubber grommet of some sort to allow the pressure to escape if it ignites somehow thus preventing a catastrophic explosion of the cell. Comments?

Unfortunately my multimeter is hitting its 10amp limit, and I don't have any fuses I can test with until I visit Home Depot in the am. Ive hooked it up to a hacked 400Watt computer power supply (easy to build, google "12v powersupply hack")which was running 5v 40amp (after combining all the wires together) then switched it over to the 12v 20amp circuit. All three produced about the same results. The specs on the battery: Exide Technologies YB12A-A Motorcycle 12v, AH Cap 10hrs @ 12amp.

So even though my video isn't much better the sound has improved but more importantly these are NOT 2mm elctrodes but 6.8mm electrodes. Two sets of electrodes are evolving gas and I continue to learn. I have also moved to a single 12VDC cell for input power to the SEC 15-3 exciter. The field surrounding this experiment is massive.
