The draw back to not forcing anyone to do a particular thing is that not everyone matures at the same rate allowing for poor choices. But you learn by doing some times it requires mistakes. Some times it allows for people to be in jobs they don't like or a job teenager might choose. We try not to burden people with education over flow, just basics so they can work with in their talents or expand them. For example if I own if want some one in a doctor position, software designer I would choose India, Math and Electronics some one from Japan. Industrial Labor Chinese they simple have enough people in those fields to fill the positions. If I want someone in fast food, or general labor I want someone with just a diploma. I wouldn't want someone more highly skilled, because they become bored and non productive and either quit or not perform. We like people that love what they are doing fully.

If a person that attends a tech center wants to work on personal projects, time allowing they can make money during and after school. For instance in electronics you may repair a computer of it's mother board, DVD player. Simple things like that time permitting that helps develop practical experience. We don't want mildly talented people in any of our white collar fields when they might only be qualified to make French fries. If we lack people in certain fields we bring them from other countries

Thats called general education; we don't work in High School at 16 you are given the option to attend a career tech center. Once the aptitude and curiosity is developed you are bussed to a career tech center if you so choose or you may take more subjects in a personal area of interest. We compartmentalize to get the best of each field. We allow kids to study in their area of interest allowing them the freedom to pursue what they like are good at early on. People learn fast doing what they like

We don't promote professionalism in school (nor do kids work while in school) becoz the society focuses on learning. even the dumbest child is expected to do good in every subject. every system has it's pros and cons. once aptitude and curiosity is developed and the tough education system forces one to do good. math and science are easy and interesting. which is why kids here are good at everything, and so talented.

In India, we're taught everything up till 10th grade (which is the minimum requirement to pass in the US) and 11th and 12th are like AP courses. However in the past few years, the syllabus has changed so much that, going to college is like a repetition of school (of course i have yet to attend college) In India there is no option but in the US one has the option of taking or not taking AP courses. fortunately the best colleges aren't so expensive here.

Had I wanted to go in to another field lets say Agriculture, Electronics would have been useless. Pretty much we are given a taste of a bit of every thing and left to decide what we want to do. Then we dedicate our studies in that area. I remember studying combustion engines and electricity in 5th grade science. Later at 16 I spent 3 hours a day getting a degree in electronics. I like to hear from India on electronics and math, because your people are passionately interested in those fields.

That's because in the US we are more quickly advanced. In case you hadn't noticed he have a pretty good grasp of atomic theory. You wouldn't have a nuclear program if it wasn't for atoms for peace. We learn how atoms function in the fifth grade. electronics is optional later, no sense learning things in fields we don't intend on going in. We learn required classes here first and we choose the education in the field we want to go in. I like electronics so I got my 1st degree in it at 18.

Pronunciation of English words varies based on which part of the world you're from. American English is vastly different from British English for example. Also, if you look at the word "circuitous", you'll notice that the pronunciation of the first part of the word is very similar to how the instructor is pronouncing "circuit". Just trying to help.

Maybe that is your view of what the top-notch universities are. To me, these universities are places to get a BETTER education. Could you learn the material without a professor? Sure. However, you cannot compare MIT to a vocational school. The material you learn in the higher end courses are not the same. Vocational schools do not go as deep into the material/theory as a university. That is the difference. A car mechanic is not the same as a Honda design engineer.

I have the proof right here in this video. This is no more difficult than vocational education. The fact of the matter is these schools just tend to be more selective with requirements to enter so it appears to the public that the material is harder. I have done my own research. It's not. Are the professors better at getting the material to the students? Yes. And that is the real benefit of these types of schools. The school is tough, but any GOOD student could do the work.

From what I've seen, high-end Universities such as MIT have much better professors than other universities, including mine. Difficulty of courses should not be how you judge the quality of a university. Any university can make their courses hard, however without good professors students all fail or come out knowing nothing. Better professors -> better students -> better graduates. Keep in mind this the FIRST day of an INTRO course. Get an EE degree, then come back and say the material is easy.

This is MIT? Not impressed at all and it fits into my opinion of these so-called high-end colleges. The material he presented here was incredibly easy. It seems to me we need to throw the mystique around these colleges away. Yes, they teach very complicated material but anyone is capable of learning it. The problem is they have only so many seats so they choose to take what they consider are the best of the best in high school students. And the deception continues that way.

Let's say you have 2 buckets - one full of water and one empty. Water doesn't have to be flowing between the buckets for you to measure the difference in volume between them, right? The same applies to measuring the electrical potential (or VOLTAGE) between two points. The +Batt terminal is like the full bucket and Gnd is like the empty bucket. You can measure the difference in ENERGY between the two points (or VOLTAGE) even though there isn't any flow (or CURRENT) between the points.

At 24 minutes and 33 seconds into the lecture, a screen on the professors laptop comes on for a split second that says: "Authorware Macromedia". I think this might be the simulator program being used. The picture resolution is very bad, so I can't decipher what else is on the screen, but it's a strong clue. I'm having a problem with Thevenin's Theorem. When the load is removed, it is said that there is no current flow through R3, so it can be ignored when calculating the voltage at points A & B. How can this be so? If you put a voltage meter at points A & B and measure voltage, isn't current flowing through R3? How else could there be a voltage reading at A & B? If you measure across B & C, I can see that you could ignore R3. I know I'm wrong but I can't understand why. Thanks.

I agree excess gas is not good, but you want the most without going overboard. The more porting, the less accurate you are. Except for recoil which does not affect the initial shot that much. Porting is used for sound mostly, not accuracy. When you increase your velocity, you are allowing more air to go through the gun, which makes you more accurate.

Hi Zero, I have a quick question for you. Could you not just stager the holes from left and right AND "seal" the holes in a dry cell with something as simple as paint to prevent current leakage? Sometimes the solutions are just so simple they are overlooked.... Shane

Somebody else used plain plates, outside bolts, and a plastic tunnel block for electrolyte and voltage blocking. Maybe hhohuntsville? Using just a minimal tunnel block on outside-bolted dry cell was smaller than the above, I think. Tunnel block could use case clamps like above, then just a rectangular gasket under edge of block.

I havn't gotten a chance to try it yet but I was told that people have been using denatured alcohol or windshield washer fluid (lots of alcohol in washer fluid) mixed into the electrolite to prevent freezing.

Looks to big to me. I don't think your going to get enough electrolite to pass acrossed all that plate surface. Good luck with it. I can't see the inlet and outlet ports so maybe I'm wrong.

No holes inn\ the plates to create edges exposed to electrolyte. i.e. no current leakage across plates, i.e. greatly improved efficiency. I predict 7+ mmw easily. And it's entirely modular. Build to any size you want.

My Campbell gasket routed the fluids around the plates through the gaskets. It failed due to my limited access to materials and machinery to build the gaskets. The same obstacles have held me back with the Mars and Phobos gaskets, but I hope to have success with new materials, which I'll be testing very soon. Bob

Hey man, this design looks very similar to the "clam" design that I've seen and since made. Is it the same thing? Plates spaced very close together, positive and negative plates spaced by neutral plates?
