You should never "store" a ribbon mic laying down the "Ribbon" will stretch and ruin / change the microphones performance ribbons should always be stored standing up.

By: AllStarSingerr. on 02 Jan 09, 21:46:03
then you should buy a pop its a thing you put infront of a mic so the way you say 'p' 'b' 'l' & 's' doesn't come though when your talking all your brething won't be loud

i have fl studio, should u use hardware interface or a stand alone recorder? leave some feedback, id appreciate it
By: 97warlock. on 25 Dec 08, 20:37:54
Using a Popular Mechenics 9.00 Mic from walmart I can get some great true tones, but it takes some real mic position tweaking & record level adjusting etc......but for a poor guy,it works good for now. Problem ive recently encountered was....My Highs suffer & if i back the mic off way from speaker i lose the bass. (Metal)
By: JIMMI200. on 23 Dec 08, 06:18:43
if you use a stand alone recorder, could you den upload them on a computer?

can anyone recomend a mic that be perfect to putt infront of an amp, i've had some top level mic's infront of an amp and it always sounds pants
By: jamiereidit. on 21 Dec 08, 14:00:05
shure sm57/8 works a treat anywhere, great standard mic. Studio or live gig.
By: Mahavishnu80. on 18 Dec 08, 23:26:01
great advice throughout this vid ive found all these things worked for me working them out the hardway! i found you can get the best results on a budget from using budget guitars/bass with used old midi keys with free or cheap vsts and reaper (a sequencer like cubase), another thing is antares mic modler..turns cheap mics into better ones and also mastering software like spectralive gives a really professional edge
By: theman362. on 15 Dec 08, 21:56:38
hehe, i used a pair of pulsar II SDC's on a classical recording of a symphonic wind orchestra a few weeks back in an xy pair, they were ok, but the neumann km184's sound better.
By: MegaManXRockMan. on 15 Dec 08, 21:51:53
hahaha. I see. Well I never used the mics. I just have a nightmare Firewire 410.
By: MegaManXRockMan. on 15 Dec 08, 21:51:11
Yes, Amps are supposed to be loud so you can get the nuances of tone out of it. The lower the volume the worse off you are. Typically. What kind of amp, guitar do you have?
By: theman362. on 15 Dec 08, 12:35:53
interface wise? depends what your budget is, its all about the quality of the converters, pre's and clock. RME make great interfaces if you can afford it. (btw i was saying that m-audio mics arent that bad, but the interfaces arent so good) :P
By: Ancaja123. on 15 Dec 08, 07:18:34
I am recording my guitar amp clean with an SM57. I want a mellow jazzy tone, but how loud should my amp be? Like i have it about 1/4 full volume, and I know i should be just experimenting but im in an apartment and I don't want to anger the neighboors! So are amps typically recorded loud??
By: MegaManXRockMan. on 15 Dec 08, 01:53:15
well I love it for my guitar. What do you recommend?
By: theman362. on 15 Dec 08, 01:04:55
interfaces: yes... mics.. not so much the sputnik is a great mic for its price
By: MegaManXRockMan. on 11 Dec 08, 19:59:03
