However, crazgirl is right. The music was originally was written to commission the memory of Mr. MW Lacy and Mrs. Caroline Morris Lacy, and their daughter Julia Lacy Armstrong. I'm assuming the couple had passed on, hence why Eric was asked to write the piece. I don't have the piece in front of me so I can't write what it says but I do remember there being death involved.

Umm...how could this have been recorded in 91 or 93 when Whitacre didn't write the actual music until 98, 99? Inside 'Sleep' is the story of how the song came about and it wasn't until then when he wrote the actual music to a Robert Frost poem...and then due to copyright infringement (he admitted it) he had his good friend Charles Anthony Silvestri write the words to 'Sleep'. The piece we sing today wasn't copyrighted until 2002 so 1991 or 1993 seems kind of off to me.

Yeah its is BYU. And I think its unfair of you to say that my choir sang in wrong when he clearly makes sure to not put any actual measures in the sheet music. That's one of the most beautiful things about his music; he lets the singers/conductor decide how they want the music to be presented.

this is performed perfectly. It's sounds much better slow, just extremely difficult to sustain. and as was said this is whitacre's choir so you can't really argue that the tempo was taken too slow.

I agree, it is a bit slow. My choir sang this last year and we tried it faster and slower, and the choir overall decided that it flows alot better when its a bit faster; the notes won't start to drag... But still its a hard song so props for taking it on and doing well.

Hebrew is my second language but I understood it rather well. I have trouble understanding choirs singing in English! they did rather well. I helped a HS choir director with Erev Shel Shoshanim once and his kids did great. One was from Finland and he did it solo for contest and was amazing. He could do Het and Khaf , make distinct zayins and pure Israeli Hebrew vowels, not drawls like the Americans. We should sing so well in CHINESE.

OMG! I saw this, and it blew my mind away! I mean, I'm into theatre, so I'm used to good acting, but this was just amazing! I loved Ferio! He and Logos were, in my mind, two of the greatest actors showing passion and a love for the character.

just so you guys know this is a trailer for a musical, well its a very different kind of musical. I was in the world premiere of the Suite in Berlin and it is AMAZING!!! not to mention the fact that the composer is a genius. The lyricist is amazing and the principle roles were seriously some of the best singers i have ever heard. I would love to be in the show again as soon as possible....lol. If you get a chance to go see it do. You wont regret it. trust me.

I was in the premiere of the suite from this show, and it is absolutely amazing. If you're in the area, I fully suggest that you go and see it next July.
