i'm really torn. i LOVE tom... SOOOO much. but i HATE this new him. a huge ego, a new band, worse music.(in my opinion, i respect fans of AVA) blink's songs just had more heart, meaning, and touched more fans. it was soemthing fans could REALLY relate to. wtf is this song REALLY about? everything is not FUCKING magic! and these kids in the music video? jocks? preps? hippies? what about give me one good reason? "hate the jocks, the preps, and hippie fucking scumbags". hypocritical much? whatever.

I've just checked out the Avril thing to see if you were exaggerating and I can't believe it's that popular. But then again this video was deemed by MTV as being a fairly "inaccessible" video due to "disturbing" content so it's understandable why it's not had that much exposure. It's sad to say this but regardless of a band's quality, marketing is what makes or breaks a band in terms of gaining widespread appeal. Let's just be thankful that Avril hasn't covered FNM as she has Metallica. ;)

I'm a huge fan of JC Superstar. I've seen the film many, many times and Ted Neeley's live production just this Christmas and I, along with the rest of the audience, gave him a standing ovation for his amazing performance. He can still belt out those notes like a rock star even though he is 65. The film is a flawless masterpiece. However this brilliant work should still be performed though direction and talent will come together perhaps once every 100 years to equal the original performance.

It really is wrong to compare the two movies and I also don't understand why everyone takes such extreme positions - why not like both versions? They have their good and bad points. (I have been listening to the original version from 1970 from my childhood but I am not saying that the one or the other sucks or something). I'm glad you have something positive to say about this movie. Most people continuously bash it. I don't think this should be compared to the 1973 version (even though I know many people will continue to do so) because this was a remake. It was meant to be redone for a newer generation and was meant to be modernized. I like that aspect of it. Not even being born in the 70s, I can relate to this movie so much more than the '73 version because this is my time, not my parents'.
