chomsky rocks buckley, seems uninformed

It's unfortunate for Buckley that he takes so long to say so little, which is then so easily shown wrong with the first example out of Chomsky's mouth. Chomsky seems to be tutoring him via staccato mini-lectures in history, economics, and logic.

Buckley's knowledge of Greek history is surprisingly bad. Communist insurgency in the early 1940s before the Nazis? Either he's ignorant or he figures his audience is.

The United States is the child molester of smaller nations.

basically is it justifiable to invade a country based on the premise that it would pose a threat in the future: domino effect.

Freepablo he was born into a rich family. But he was also a brilliant student at Yale. Who made his mark from his writing. And you are????

I like this moderatorless debate style. Wish I saw it more often in presidential debates or even academic debates. It would certainly make things more interesting and lively, perhaps ironically more civil if things find an equilibrium, and much more honest.

can you provide one citation that refutes what he identified as fact. It's amazing! You see these sort of criticisms all the time on youtube! You accuse Chomsky of historical inaccuracies and improperly sourced information and then precede to a statement of fact with no citation whatsoever! You hypocrite!

Buckley is such a slimy bugger. I normally see a lot of truth in what Chomsky says and i don't think it's right to call what he talks about "conspiracy theories" just because it's not what we're told everyday on the news. That said, I would love for someone to explain what he's going on about around 8:50 ish.

could noam be any more vacuous. buckley surely won this debate hands down. again, noam always resorts to conspiracy theories. he expects the viewer to be a typical cowed liberal who blames the US and the west for all the troubles of the world, noam lies continually about "FACTS"and hopes that no one looks up the details till after the debate. noam never puts anything in historical context. NOTE:noam is a millionaire. he has always contracted work for the military and CIA. a deceitful hypocrite

Buckley actually was a smart man, but as such he enabled the Reagan administration and argued for it. He's evil, and I guess we know which of these 2 men God favored more (if he exists), because one is still alive.
By: zigzagbigbag. on 03 Jan 09, 04:47:54
The truth is while Buckley is very well spoken he isn't nearly as well read as Noam.

a lot of Americans sounded like that those days

I love how the father of American Conservatism sounds like a British man from the 1800s. He's nothing but a rich boy.

04:20 OWNED BY Chomsky 420 and chomsky lmao...funny coincidence.

Looking at this, it's sad that nothing remotely close to this type of discourse will be on television in a mainstream capacity. Regardless of what anyone thought about Buckley's view points, most Firing Line shows lasted about an hour, so he and his guests could truly slug it out. What do we have today, a three minute soundbite battle via satellite.

I like how the back and forth of this whole things starts to heat up right around 1:00 (at about 60 seconds into it) as they start comparing Dresden and Vietnam and Chomsky and Buckley start challenging each other on specific points of the debate.

I think the F in william f stands for fucktard
By: theREALshafan. on 30 Dec 08, 03:29:25
having said that I do very much respect Buckley.
By: mzambo666. on 29 Dec 08, 19:33:42
I agree, I am in the liberal side but for the conservative voice Buckley was excellent.
By: jsrl317. on 28 Dec 08, 20:19:18
Pure intellectual battle. Excellent debate. I miss Buckley. I am a staunch liberal but this guy simply made you think. Something lacking in totality in today's red/blue America.
