I went to Dai's House of Unique Stink today. I ordered the same dishes (minus the 1000-year-old eggs...no longer on the menu). Andrew Zimmern, for a guy who eats brains, worms and nads, you really gotta MAN UP! Okay, I can forgive you for passing up the second dish, even though I tolerated it (it's like eating "doufuru", available in Chinese grocery stores, straight from the jar). But the hamburgers are DELICIOUS! (I had beef slices - no beef stomach on the menu.) Andrew Zimmern, you WIMP!

I waited in line at Jin Da Ding (the tofu stall in Shenkeng) earlier today. Though Shenkeng has plenty of stinky tofu available on Tofu Street, Jin Da Ding doesn't sell stinky tofu, but barbecued regular tofu, stuffed with fermented cabbage. It's damn good, but it ain't stinky.

This show states Taiwan as a nation because it originates from the United States, which is supportive of Taiwan Independence. The U.N does say that Taiwan's Nation Status is null, however when has the United States listened to anything the U.N has said, just look at the invasion of Iraq. They have a long history of denial and hypocrisy (especially in the recent years) and I think U.S needs to brush up their own act before minding other people's business.

well some do have added sugars or just something added, but usually with the bag of the vegetables they're cooked and then frozen so you can keep them for a longer period of time (compared to fresh vegetables). so i guess they are "processed" ...but i'm sure an organic/whole foods store would have adequate frozen foods. then again, i could be wrong, but i'm thinking i'm on the right track here

They also have to keep you addicted, like someone is addicted to drugs. You can call lays, cheetos, ruffles, etc. food "opiates" if you want. Also, manufacturers like to add a lot of artificial chemicals to food. If you saw something called aspartame in your regular groceries that you can hardly pronounce, you wouldn't want it. Sorry 'bout the subject Ani, but talking about durian...here in Brazil there's a fruit called jatobá (stress on the 'a') and it is very nutritious. To some it can have such an awful smell; actually once it was almost the only thing I couldn't eat. But once I was quite weak and I felt it would put me up so I made an effort and,not only got stronger, but really liked it. Cheers to all.

Zimmern changed my outlook on eating. Rather than being grossed out over things I've never tried, I want to slowly try new foods. First, I want to try frogs then move onto worms and then bats. Maybe poison puffer fish and crickets later.

"Bizarre" is describing foods that many people have not had the experience of trying or even hearing about. It's not a negative description about these cultures! Many people world wide think some American staples are bizarre. We should learn from each other rather than insult each other.
