Gandhi= Racist half-naked religious fanatical hypocrite
By: palmergolfer. on 29 Dec 08, 02:44:18
This is one of my all time favorite movies. The only thing that kind of gave me a let down was not using one of Gandhi's most famous quotes, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Other than that, it's flawless.

The Gandhi's main point was not to blame the others (like British) but to be ready to fight everyone's devils. If you know that you'll be ready for non violence, and fight for your freedom, by peaceful means. I'm not Indian, but here in Argentina the British brought trains too, and work in the past, but in terrible work conditions, there's no way to be proud of it, although knowing that our governments had a lot to do with that.

British raj gave us political unity(India would have been 50 different countries if British had not come) + Trains + Lingual unity by introduction of English Language + infrastructure(police, military, postal, transportation) + Techincal institutes like VJTI(Mumbai)+Abolition of sati + eradication of Bandits want anything more ??

I have seen this film a few times and everytime it has moved me and stirred in me equal amounts of love for my mother county and loathing for the British Raj and just to be clear I LOATE THE BRITISH RAJ OF THE PAST, now if anyone disagrees with that point of view, please by all means keep it to yourself. Albert Einstein's words have rung true there has never been another such as Mahatma Gandhi in flesh and in blood. Long live India! Jai Hind!

Compass: don't forget, the British buggered up the Indian economy and tens of millions of Indians starved to death in the 1800's as a result. They also forced Indians to buy British textiles and other products at exorbitant prices. India needs to get rid of the caste system and to keep increasing religious and ethnic tolerance...the Indian peoples are intelligent and optimistic as far as one can generalize...if Brazil can pull themselves out of destitution, India can do it too.

Veda: why aren't you proud of being able to speak English? You should be proud of any and all languages of which you have a good command.
By: compasschris. on 16 Dec 08, 11:00:30
No, I'm not 50, I'm 75 and a half. Or mabye it's 25. I am in Mumbai in Feb next. If you want to meet me I will take you to the old people who say India was better before 1947. Have you been to Mumbai? I will take you round the slums and other places then you will see poverty. It's at least 95%. Then you can buy me a beer and apologise.
By: compasschris. on 16 Dec 08, 10:50:24
Ah right, that's it. You see yourself above others because you can speak 2 languages. OK, it was pots of gold, you win, pots of gold. So what?
By: jingleOjohn. on 16 Dec 08, 03:31:42
You say "I had spoken to ...", but I have lived for 20 years with plenty of people born atleast 30 years before Indian independence, many my immediate relatives. Now tell me, should I consider whatever experiences about India which they shared with me as trash and what u present here as fact? Typing "Poverty in India is NOT 30%" in capitals doesn't make it a fact. Are u 50? If so go and see some psychiatrist, hope ur family didn't leave u for ur stinky mouth and girlish smooth "hairless" skin.
By: vedaBang. on 15 Dec 08, 17:13:30
You are just debating on some foolish old Indians' Opinions. This is ridiculously rubbish
By: vedaBang. on 15 Dec 08, 17:11:24
Also i am not PROUD to be able to speak English. I am VERY GOOD at my mother tongue. Tell me how many other langauges can you speak?Pots of GOLD, thats the right word perhaps ships of them. And you really need do some proper reading before coming here. As I dont have enough time to educate you on each and everything....
By: compasschris. on 15 Dec 08, 13:28:15
You're talking like a prick. No-one is speaking as if 'they were there' you idiot. That would mean no-one could comment on world events prior to them being born. If you read my original comments I said I had spoken to plenty of old timers in India and they said life was better, cleaner etc under British rule. There are only 2 things in this world with hair like yours......cunts and coconuts. And you my friend, are no coconut.
By: jingleOjohn. on 15 Dec 08, 01:49:13
Your profile says you are 50 and you speak as if you saw how India was 11 years before you were born. Your comment, "We showed you how to read and write",..lol,look at yourself, lol...r u 50? seriously dude, it reminds me of Einsteins quote:"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe". Age brings wisdom and in your case it didn't, did it? 50 years old squabbling over internet, go and have some life dude.
By: compasschris. on 14 Dec 08, 21:35:39
Don't talk silly ! Poverty in India is NOT 30%. It's more like 95%. Open your eyes! Look at the beggars, the squalor, people starving ( like your Grandma ). In every country there is poverty and poor people, even in U.K. I said India was a better place when the British were there. It was cleaner and had law and order. We showed you how to read and write but in your case, after reading your comments, it didn't really work for you, did it?
By: compasschris. on 14 Dec 08, 21:11:16
The British brought law & order, education. employment and many other things. OK, so they took their pound of flesh....so what? Big money was made but not from stealing 'pots of gold'. Tea, Cotton, Herbs, spices etc....was worth a fortune back in U.K. The British built roads and some fine buildings. You wanted them out - independence - now look at it, a shithole. My original comment still stands; " it was better under the British ".
By: ebwandsc00ting. on 14 Dec 08, 16:15:45
Your really busting your balls to hate Gandhi. This whole front page of video comments are all yours right now.
By: vedaBang. on 14 Dec 08, 16:13:14
LOL, good point, and thus you bollock Christ children
By: vedaBang. on 14 Dec 08, 16:10:30
Sir, If you think a country which was looted and plundered first by Islamists followed by Brits for atleast five centures will be developed in 50 years, I would bollock that idea. In fifty years Indian poverty has reduced from 85% to 30% is the fact in hand and YOU should live by that..And those handful of people you have talked do NOT represent 1 billion of population...
By: vedaBang. on 14 Dec 08, 16:03:12
A billion of Indias stand on the northsea border and piss and britain would come under sea. C'mon by looking at your age, I must admit that you still live in that age when Brits were pretending to be lions. Remember US is lion now and Brit is one of the following Rats...Take it or not it least matters..
By: vedaBang. on 14 Dec 08, 16:00:57
That is true, i agree, indeed less people migrated from villages to cities at those times and this cities were not crowded!!
