Not technically. Back then, most companies that made action cartoons had them animated by Japanese companies that didn't even specialize in anime. They just made American cartoons like the Batman and Superman cartoons. Nowadays they're done by Koreans.

One of the better TV movies made in the '70s. The special effects and makeup aren't bad given the year and low budget. The acting isn't terrible...just bad enough for a TV horror movie. Interesting story and premise. And Bernie Casey does an excellant job as "The Gargoyle." If you see this airing on cable or in the "cheap DVDs" its DEFINATELY worth watching!

I'm with you flap...I saw this when I was about 5 years old (born in '71) on the late night "scary movie" show. I hadn't seen a frame of it since then until I saw this clip. It scared me so badly back then that I've thought of it as some of the most evil and horrifying film footage I've ever seen even until this very day. AWESOME!

I'm a "B" movie lover and this is my all time favorite. It is an absolute classic. The Night Stalker TV movie is a close second. If you think that Gargoyles is hard to find, try to find Cornel Wilde's other "B" movie called "Shark's Treasure." It had Yaphet Koto in it.

This show had wonderful music, complex characters and a was not dumbed down for children at all. There's Shakespeare and wonderful drama, epic action and dark, dark themes running through the entire show. There's a con devoted to Gargoyles and other cartoons called The Gathering. Held every year since 1995! There is also a comic book currently made by Greg Weisman, creator of Gargoyles, that continues the tv show straight from last episode of Season 2, ignoring the god-awful Goliath Chronicles.

I loved this cartoon, it was one of my first obsessions. Such a deep story with wonderful characters, hero and villian alike. Who didn't feel sorry for Demona, love Xanatos's realistic villiany, and cheer when Elisa finally kissed Goliath? There is alot of good fanfiction as well. I'd hum the theme at work!

How great! Funnily enough, I think this was the first intro. to Gargoyles that I saw. Guess what? Gargoyles didn't end with Season three! Gargoyles is continuing in a new comic series by Greg Weisman, published by SLG (Slave Labor Graphics). Season three isn't on DVD yet, but Season 1 and the first half of Season 2 are. Definitely something to check out if you enjoyed any part of the Gargoyles animated series.

The sequence from 3:45 to 5:40 is just fabulous. The music coincides brilliantly with what the animation is trying to show. You can instantly see that Xanatos is a powerful man, the helicopter crosses the ocean with a parapet and fade/in of his personal chopper going up...and up, music swelling higher and higher until you get to Goliath in a classic thinker pose at the top. And of course..."Don't disappoint me." When the gargoyles awaken the animation/music is wonderous.

This was an amazing Cartoon when I was a kid... Cartoons now a days are cheaply made and have dumb story lines with no violence for the sake of children. Ok.. violence in cartoons didn't mess me up, my fav shows use to be power rangers, ninja turtles and gargoyles and I didn't grow up to be a psychopath lol. Violence in shows isn't detrimental to kids, only in real life. Its just cool in cartoons.

There is a lot of things that makes this show great. The story, characters, villians, and especially the soundtrack and mudic. The little piece after Goliath says " They were leading the horses to decoy us from the castle" is so excelent!! Its so captivating. Love it

The height of the show was the second season--which was some 50 something episodes while the first season was only 13 episodes. Yes, the third season DOES suck, but the main creator of the show and the show's biggest fans don't consider it to be cannon. The reason the third season sucks is because the material--as well as the animation--all got REALLY dumbed down. So the fans/creator consider the final three parter of season 2 to be the real conclusion--and those are brilliant episodes!

Yes towards the end the series had some strange stuf like this dragon that noone seems to notice. But overall it's a fantasy, and you have to take such stuff with reserve :) Basically the entire Gargoyles series was based a bit as if the entire population of New York is half blind.

If you pay attention, Goliath has always been able to carry Bronx by himself. It's Lexington and Brooklyn that have always distributed Bronx's weight between them. Don't forget that Angela has the strength of both of her parents so she should be able to carry Bronx as well. Melacolina.

my fav gargoyle has to be either lexington or brentwood. they are clever, nimble, and their personality (both, especially brentwood) are something i kinda identify with. i am not like him.....but i wish i was! Xanatos is just too badass not to be my secondary fav!

ok poll time!!! which of the gargoyles presented in the series and the comics do you like best? (show or comics. i myself have not read the comics but they are canon)(the mutants count and the clones count) you must give a reason why they are your favorite. after that if you have a nongargoyle char you identify with more do that one instead.(i.e. norse gods, oberon and his pile of mythics...xanatos..ect your choice.
