this movie was great the movie was slow moving but you had to just look at their faces and see how they were beginning to get over time, this movie was about the last moment of someones life. it wasnt an action movie...it was great.

Having been a fan already of Gus Van Sant (after seeing 'Elephant' and 'Good Will Hunting' and not realizing at first it was the same director), I decided to give his sort of under-ground film of 'Gerry' a chance. Needless to say, I was moved ... for it was unlike any type of film I had seen before. The impact occurred more on a sensory (or subconscious) level and upfront literal. The way the scenes unfolded and the characters reacted was highly believable. Good score & acting & locations. A+!

Agreed. If you watch this trailer you get the whole story. That being said the cinematography in this movie is very good.

Gerry was the only movie I've ever had to fast forward through. It was nauseatingly boring; it had a sparse plot, and hardly any dialogue. Yes, all films are works of art, but watching this one was like looking at a painting for two hours.

This was a good film. It's different! It was making me thirsty all the way through.

oh...me again...there is another thing...this time i could call it mistake:)) well, the gerry that will eventually die had a grey blouse when the movie started and until he climbed that rock, "looking for gerry"...what happened to the blouse after that? and one more...at the end of the movie, the dead gerry has one of his legs higher but as the other gerry leaves he appears in the background with both legs flat on the ground...omg! the deads moved:))

i meen...the highway was so close he could hear the cars...but he only heard them after the other gerry was dead(=)a mom of sanity...he gets in the car, saying nothing...if there were 2 of them, and they were so good friends, i think the logic thing to do for gerry when stopping that car was to tell the driver to help him get his friends body (which was also close btw)...i think this interpretation is the best if you really want an analysis of this movie...schysophrenia rulz:)) any better ideas?
By: Para88Noir. on 02 Oct 08, 21:19:10
both guys are actually the same(there is only ONE schysophrenic gerry).I meen, there is a scene at the begining when only one of them says hi to those ppl, both tie their laces in the same time and all gets deeper thru the movie, like:gerry sees the other gerry comming, while talking to gerry,he collaps on the sand at the end and probably thinks of death or smtn when the other gerry says "i`m leaving"...so he has a mom of sanity and in that mom he rises and sees the road which was so close...

One of my favorite films of all time. The acting, direction, score, and cinematography are all flawless. I own the DVD and the poster ;)

This film certainly does require patience to sit through but it is definitely worth the payoff in the end. Gus Van Sant takes the viewer on such a haunting odyssey. Beautiful film and certainly underrated. I'm the only one I know who actually enjoys this film but who cares what anyone else thinks?

I almost rented this, you know. I spend half an hour scouring the shelves of this indie movie store, and I found it and I had it in my hands. But then I realised I had no money, and I had no ID. I almost ran out with it, I was so desperate. Alas, I am not meant to watch Gerry.
