I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!! I was so fortunate to have seen this in the theatres even though I was just 13 at the time (saw the previews on tv and KNEW it was gonna be good)-my parents didn't know what movie they had let me pick to see (if they knew how violent it would be, we never would have went) and it turned out that in the end, they actually liked it too (they didn't like all the violence of course, but the storyline/script and actors we all agree are AMAZING)! :D

We're watching this movie in Global because it ties in with out unit on Rome and I really like it, not coutning the carnage because I'm a loser but otherwise it ROCKS! I love Maximus. And I hate Commodos, who was real. Some other students hate that they can't sleep during it because it's actually a big bulk of our lesson. Haha. Sucks for them.

I think Emperor Commodus (who was a real person) actually DID fight in the games at one point...if my history is correct. As in the final fight in the movie, I think they took certain "precautions" to make sure he wasn't actually killed. Commodus thought Maximus would be done for after he stabbed him in the back, literally. Anyway, I fricking love this movie. It may not be perfect, but I still think it is one of the best of all time.

The music is awesome, as is Russell Crowe's performance. Truly a man's man. Depicts a time nearly 2000 years ago, yet issues today are nearly similar. Mooie transcriptie! Zelf heb ik dit stuk met volledig symfonie-orkest gespeeld, en ik mis vaak de verschillende kleuren die instrumenten kunnen hebben als een oorspronkelijk orkestraal werk wordt omgezet naar piano... dat merk ik hier heel sterk (vooral contrabas/celli). Maar alle credits to Wibi!
