There are very few jobs that require a person to be 100% sure they want to devote their entire life to. My job is along the same line. I've worked with animals in a clinical setting for about 8 years. It's not all fun and games. You deal with some pretty nasty shit. But my love for animals keeps me going. Like the guys in this vid, there is no in-between. You either have the "Midas Touch" or you don't. So trust me, second guessing will kill your career before you even start it.

I'm a funeral director, so thankfully I just have to pick up the body, not do all the clean up. I hear ya when you say that the fluids and bugs travel. When we rolled this lady over to get her wrapped in plastic, the maggots that were under her just scattered. It was off. By the time we had her on the cot and out the door, it almost looked like the maggots were following us.

Its definatley a shocking job. I have been working on cleanups for about a year and a half. Its a nasty job, but like the guy said in the video you find ways 2 cope. It gets easier as time goes on. At 22 I never pictured myself ever doing this... We've done a few 'good ones' this year the latest was a woman who was dead for 6 weeks. Its amazing how far bodily fluids can travel expecially when a person dies on a second floor and leaks through to the 1st floor appartment ceiling.

I know this doesnt even compare to a crime scene but I have worked 7 years with severly mentally retarded adults nd have seen some unbelievably disgusting things. I didn't think I could handle it at first but after awhile you become imune to the nasty things the people do and it's just another day. that is probably how these people are.

I'm not a gory-type person. My mind dwells on it over and over, and I start to feel suicidal and depressed. Nothing like car accidents where the head busts open like an egg thrown against a brick wall at 100mph. arequipa, would you say the same about funeral directors/embalmers? How about tissue recovery specialists? They can be downright nasty jobs as well. How about the medical examiner who has to determine cause of death on a maggot infested body? These guys are just cleaning the "stuff" up, they generally don't have to spend alot of time with the corpse. So, is there something wrong with the people in these other jobs?

A family or insurance company can be ripped off big time by certain companies who do this work. Be very careful in your time of grief that you do not end up spending tens upon tens of thousands of dollars. You CAN shop around. Let your fingers do the walking in the yellow pages.
