I really agree with you! There is a lot of "machine gun" players out there, how will show how FAST they can play, that is there goal. But Guthrie makes it musical , yeah he can play machine gun licks too, but he's just so much more!

That's the cool thing about Guthrie, actually. He makes no apologies for just going all out. It's just who he is as a player. I totally dig that take-no-prisoners approach. Yeah, he definitely shreds at times and sometimes a lot, but he rarely does it just for the sake of it or to impress. He's clearly having fun doing what he does.

the thing that is just nuts about this is that he was improvising, and he didnt miss a single note! one could complain about the lack of space in some spots, but its just a jam! I'm sure he is very familiar with any musical tool he can use

Discovered GG in a Japanese mag last year. Then, I saw the videos. This is my favorite. Blues, country, fusion, metal...It doesn't matter what you throw at him. Don't know where he learned, but he's innovated since. He has inspired. The American Guitar mags better wake up soon. Who's going to spur on musical growth over here...The Jonas Brothers?

Not yet. But he'll get there. It's just a matter of time. The thing is, I don't think Guthrie cares at all about being "famous". It's kind of cool that he's underground but he'll break out soon. He just has too much talent and his fan base is growing fast.

one of my new favs . i teach guitar out of s fla. and i also play a lot like this style using elements of funk,blues, guitar instrumental and latin, smidges of psych. whatever. FOr a guy who has come out with only one record he has done a lot. seems to concentrate on teaching mostly . good for him.
