This song helped me even though I am Caucasian. I have curly red hair and very light, easily irritated skin and ppl bothered me about those things for a lot of my life and wouldn't just let me be. Always telling me to get a tan even though I can't tan and its bad for your skin, and to fix my hair even though they were jealous of the color. People are stupid. This song is fantastic!!!

Love this song, I've not heard this song in quite a while, i think young girls shud be looking up to ppl like India Arie, but the society nowadays would often accept a light skinned woman with a long weave over a natural dark skinned woman, I ain't saying there's a problem being light skinned with long weave but the society is lowering the self-esteem of young vulnerable young ladies and making them think that there is only 1 type of beauty, but India.Arie shows that everybody is beautiful...x

no to sound self abosorbed but,my problem as stupid as it is, is that i have a innocent unique cute face and really thick curlly long indian hair.I liked this song because it made me so happy that there are people who look at you for who you are in oppose to how you look.I know some people would love to be 'beautiful' but seriously for me thats all ive ever been looked at for and i really wish at times people would get to kno me instead of judge me from how i look.
