Macworld San Francisco 2000-The Mac OS X Introduction (Pt.1)

By request, here is when Steve Jobs introduced Mac OS X for the first time ever. I edited the video myself to show the very best moments of the presentation & split it up into 3 parts on account of youtube's bogus time limit.

they never mention custom built pcs...... and about the box comerical what about this, pcs can play games the moment is comes out, macs have to wait months for a mac version to come out, if they use bootcamp they won't get the full preformance plus mac guy would shut up if he saw asus laptops that only cost 1300 dollars and has twice the specs that their best macbook has, and their assumptions of vista comes from them comparing a 32bit vista running on a 1gb ram computer

Why do americans use our german word "Gesundheit" if somebody sneeze?
By: koyophoto. on 02 Dec 08, 21:00:04
Last time I checked, macs don't run many games...and I'd rather buy the iLife equivalents for my pc and be able to play games on it.

As much as I may appear to "hate" Mac, I would gladly own a MacBook - providing I could compensate for its shortfalls by also owning a PC Laptop. Even though Mac appears to be not the work type, I would only use Mac to chat on MSN, browse the internet casually and download music and videos - without any fear of viruses. I would use the PC for downloading and playing games, running Windows based software, or software that is generally easier to use for the PC, even if it is cross-compatible.

Now after listing so many advantages I have using my PC, what do I have to be jealous about? To my dismay, I am forced to use Mac at College. OS X to be precise. This is simply my opinion but I hate the user experience. For many people it may be pleasurable but I absolutely hate it, right down to the tiny details such as the: "Save, Don't Save, and Cancel" buttons are all seperated so it's irritating to click the one I want Wake up call? Who can afford to throw away £799 on the CHEAPEST Mac?

I use AVG as well (Kaspersky is great but was too heavy-weight). Is she connected through a router? If so, try directly connecting to the modem (if possible). Does she have a non-AVG firewall application open? If so, ensure it isn't blocking any AVG services.

"No, iLife comes with a mac...." Most OEMs include MS Works (or provide it as an option) if purchasing one with Windows considerring it only costs them ~$10 which allows for word processing, spreadsheets, etc. Aside from that, one can easily use a free alternative such as Open Office. One can always use Windows Live services which includes pretty much everything iLife includes for no additional cost.

No Problem. But to be fair, if you were in a business, you'd hardly use iWeb to make your companies website or the amatures at home would mock the companies professionalism lol, use dreamweaver or something comlex if you want a real website

Whether its more popular is not the question, if ive got a business, I dont want my website to be a bebo page do i? And photoshop is not a photo library, even if it was it is available on mac. Internet is connected, I thought it may be avg's server, so I'm waiting to see if its that, hopefully it is, im out of ideas, tried the other things you mentioned. Thanks for your help

Social Networking is more popular - hence your site on Bebo or Myspace will get more views more frequently. iPhoto and Photoshop both edit pictures and add effects. But Photoshop still allows me to do as much as iPhoto. GIMP is a free alternative, there are many free alternatives for PC, but very few for Mac.

What are you on about, photoshop and iphoto are completely diferent prgrammes, im a graphic designer and use it every day. And all the other prgrammes you are on about arnt free for a pc. iWeb and social networking sites are also completely different things. You get free web sppace when you buy a mac, and you can make a website with iweb and publish it straight to the website

Ok, for one second I'll put aside our opinions. - Ask her about her ISP (Internet Service Provider) and see if they are having problems. - Check the internet connection to make sure it is connected and that a light is showing. - Ensure that AVG is not having server problems. - Make sure in the connection has not been disabled accidently, even if it is plugged in. If it is, enable it. - If her internet uses cable, try unplugging it from the source and re-plugging it after 20 seconds.

Its not freeware, she bought it. Look if you know about pcs please to god fucking help me im bored stupid of trying to fucking fix them! Its trying to update but saying it cant connect to server, but she has an internet connection, Why do things just suddenly stop working on pcs! Right forget about this mac vs pc shit, we obviously prefer different os's, Do you have any idea what the problem is? Im trying to get on with my work!
By: Ethanace. on 02 Dec 08, 10:31:09
So what does iLife have for me today? iMovie - I use Cyberlink PowerDirector, I can do anything, even green-screen editing. iMovie does not do this. iPhoto - I use Adobe Photoshop. iPhoto is not comparible. iWeb - I can create websites without even using software. I use more popular social networking sites. iDVD - PowerDirector can do everything this can do too, so why bring out more shit? Garage Band - I use Cubase, Reason and FL Studio to make better music.

That's because AVG Anti-Virus is shit. Get something worth it, like BitDefender, Kaspersky Internet Security, or ESET NOD32 - Possibly the strongest Anti-Virus available. AVG always has problems. Complaining about freeeware that isn't doing it's job is not Microsofts problem.

No but Mac users often see this. Your computer needs to be restarted. Press the restart button, or hold in the power button for several seconds. This message appears in three languages on a black screen of death. Yes, Mac does crash.

By: downward1. on 02 Dec 08, 09:21:53
No, iLife comes with a mac. Though I suppose pcs are great for buying office, you could make a mean spread sheet!.. ROCK ON!!!
By: downward1. on 02 Dec 08, 09:20:52
ERROR MESSAGE [03] WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEND AN ERROR REPORT [SEND] [DONT SEND] Sorry mac users, you wont understand that... mind you neither will pc users, but you'll be used to seeing it.

"a mac just works!" so explain why my Micro-camera did not automatically install (which Windows XP did for me in under 12 seconds) and why it didn't even work on the Mac AT ALL? Not only did it not install automatically, you have to find a way to manually install it just to find out its not compatible. So much for "Mac works with modern technology" it even shows an ad of Mac working with a camera. So why doesnt it work with my micro camera? I didnt say PC's are flawless, I spoke about viruses.

I'me a PC!!!
By: LordDestros. on 02 Dec 08, 00:35:51
"a mac just works!" Odd...I have a printer at home that won't run on Mac OS X...But if a Mac OS X then that is paradoxical meaning life must be paradoxical...or a conspiracy! Life is a conspiracy! Be alert! Avoid it at all costs!
