i went to their roseland ballroom concert. my ticket cost $25, and there were a few hundred hipster fans who paid $25 each too. i can't think of any other reason to put on a show except for money. anyway, all i am saying is that we shouldn't assume that he needed that money. everyone likes money.

have you ever seen an of montreal show? it takes money to put on a fuckin show like that. they have to hire extras, make sets, like a million costumes.. it's not free. you're right, i don't know anything about their economoic status. but i can assume that he needs money for SOMETHING, or else he wouldn't have sold his song to a commercial. i can't think of any other reason to put your song in a commercial except for money.

Barnes has always been about self-aware "ironic" overtly stylized glammy pop. Of everything that Of Montreal is, what part wouldn't allow for a cheesey reformatting of a song for a restaurant commercial? You know Barnes sealed the deal with a "fuck it" kind of attitude.

Do you ever illegally download music? of montreal's music? maybe, since illegal downloading has become so HUGE, they simply couldn't make enough money to even support themselves. kids are expensive. The music buisness is DAMN HARD. You guys should be THANKFUL that he sold out that song, so that he has enough money to keep making music, and putting on shows, instead of complaining that he sold out. Is he not indie enough for you anymore? Is that the problem? Then it isn't his fault, its YOURS.
