He probably means the thumb. Some use it to mute the 6th string, but some only use it for the grip of the neck.

actually putting ur thumb on the edge of the neck is very useful,it allows u to mute the 6th and 5th strings, alot of famous guitar players use this thumb techniqe. oh and i liked how he plays it slow.

Well, first of all it is too low. If he keeps playing like that it is going to give him joint issues later. Secondly, although this is less of a big deal, his thumb is supposed to be in the middle of the back of the neck. That's all. I wasn't trying to insult him. I'm just trying to give some advice.
