I cant beleive that some people here are wondering where Roger Waters and Nick Mason are.Roger Waters left the band 4 years before this concert was held and Nick Mason is perched behind his drum kit right before your eyes.Some people here need to read up on pink floyds history and realise that this was the same band with a new leader....back together... and bigger than ever before.The percussionist was hired to help nick mason along and give the band a bit more punch in the live environment.FAB

Great technique, but it isn't everything. I ws hoping he droped his trumpet towards the end. What a clown. I agree with an earlier post, unmusical. He has chops but its average at best. Wynton's is much better.

really, first of all, you want a Bb trumpet. You got to look at your money range too. You could go all the way with a Xeno ($2000-ish) or a intermediate horn ($1100 to 1400-ish). Also, do you play trumpet? Jazz is really meant for those with playing experience. I don't mean like high school band and all that, but enough experience to get your range, tone, and knowledge up to level.

well I'm not an expert but I've played French horn for awhile. As far as tones go, these are usually acheived with different pieces or accessories, such as mutes, placed in the bell of the trumpet. Some amount of tone/inflection can be produced via the musicians ambrochure (pinching/slackening on the jaw) which is more technique.

there is no way that Wynton has better technique, as far as classical playing is concerned. And Nakariakov's tone IMO is his main strength, absolutely perfect. Had Wynton specialised on classical playing, he may have reached Andre/Nakariakov level, but not as a Jazz/classic hybrid.

Interesting video. It shows he has a "frown" embochure rather than the usual classic slight "smile". There is more than usual facial muscle movement with register changes suggesting he will have less stamina than usual and explaining why the didn't go to the high F at the end of the piece.

actually, he raped wynton hard for two reasons: he isnt using some heavy ass trumpet, which a megatone mouthpiece the size of the whole lead pipe. also, wynton is a jazz player, so... wynton is better with is technique, is some places tone as well
