Here is a second video of the Rotary Table Weld Cell we installed last February in Kansas. We were at their facility to install their second robot (Stay tuned for a video of that one soon), and I noticed how much faster and cleaner their programming was now that they have had some more time and experience with the robot. Enjoy!

i have been to a welding school and now have been production welding for 8 years the best advice i could give anyone trying to teach someone else how to weld is to get rid of the butt joints the t-joints all that is crap never used it my self first thing i learned when i became a "real welder" was what your trying to teach will never be used in production welding. i guess though your techneque would work great on the farm

Your welding terminology sounds weird to me(Belgian)... is that universal english terminology? christmas tree? and root run? is there a webby with a list of terminology because I was schooled in dutch but work bilingual. I guess what your saying is that you first do a downward pass to get the corner and then go up to fill it? which would seem strange as here we do it in one upward pass. BTW although cane was arrogant I wouldnt be agist, there is some astonashingly good young welders out there.

LOL 19cane i have no idea what kinda welding you on about at 19 you wouldent even know where to slip your dick let alone give out welding advise maybe you should become an english teacher lol when u get ur 3E 8G 8F and 7 tickets thats welding tickets if you didnt know come talk then kid ive been pressure welding for 6yrs now never heard of your shitty "welding"
By: Knackerette. on 11 Nov 08, 11:30:58
Have to agree with you sika. When i did my WTIA cert you had to do a vertical root run first, followed by the xmas tree. (then break it in the press to check the peno. Not sure what point your mate 19cane is trying to get across?
By: 96JUSTIN. on 10 Nov 08, 18:17:12
the zipper technique is more commonly used on pressure welds and when highest of quality is used but great tips for the average joe

SHAIMESIKA Here in AUSTRALIA most people have good English Skills!Obviously you Droped out so i find it amusing you giving pointers when you cant even spell!LET ALONE WELD Try a Triple braided Vert up Skyscraper shit!...............SHAME SHAME SHAME
By: shaimesika. on 05 Nov 08, 03:00:26
Sorry to tell you mate but what u teaching is wrong you didnt pause in the center which will give u lack of peno in the critical spot i bet if u break that weld u will find little pockets which mean incompete peno very bad. try using the 2 tequnice root run use ur christmas tree and whe caping it use ur weving from side to side puseing on the edges here in Aust. your tequnice for a vertical up is an instant fail

I graduated as photo MIG welder and was always thought triangular was correct. other tips you might appreciate is that if your handle is vertical your angle should be about right depending on your torch. and hold the center a bit longer and sharpen up the tip of your triangle or "V", just looking at this i'm pretty sure there's cavities in the center of that bead.(no offence, I know how long it takes to get that far).

well done mate , but the technique needs to be slighly changed ,, and really should have used a vert root..

I always just go up at an angle then over horizontally, kinna like a lightning bolt. Worked to get me certified + thats the way my instructor taught me.
By: STRYKER7191. on 09 Oct 08, 03:56:28
hold your sides a bit longer to make it flaten out even more or turn down your wirespeed a bit.
By: weldingtipsandtricks. on 04 Oct 08, 12:44:48
After testing hundreds of these welds done this way as well as hundreds of them done using the triangular motion, (using a break test fixture and measuring penetration) there is virtually no difference in penetration in the 2 techniques . Both methods work. The upside V motion is just one way to skin the cat. I made this video and posted it in about 5 minutes while trying to teach someone and standing off to the side so the camera could see.
By: Russellbeta. on 04 Oct 08, 11:32:53
I would like to add that if you weld with a filled core wire on stainless this movement is correct.
By: Russellbeta. on 04 Oct 08, 11:29:32
No offence and I'm glad to see video posts like this but the movement in this video is flawed, it should be a triangular movement and not an upsidedown V shape.

One second thought there is the half-moon technique that will give you more uniformed welds.
